Il buon risultato di un film va
attribuito ad un insieme di
fattori: la sceneggiatura, la
A film's turning out well depends on a number of factors: the script, the
photography, the set design, the costumes, the actor's talent and so on.
However, in most cases, a film is judged to be a success or a failure
merely on the photography.
First of all, the amount of money available affects the final outcome of a
film. A low-budget film will always be such, even if the photography is
good, and the economising will be visible in the images which won't fool
anyone.
The public is becoming more and more demanding, and so it is
necessary to give increasing attention to detail, and all the various
aspects of composition.
I believe that the image is partly affected by the mood of whoever creates
it, and by this I don 'tjust mean the director but the entire crew, the
cameraman and his assistant especially, who not only have to work in
fotografia, la scenografia, i
costumi, la bravura degli attori, e
via dicendo. Ma la maggior parte
delle volte si attribuisce il
successo o l'insuccesso del film
solo alla fotografia.
Questo non è del tutto vero.
Bisogna dire innanzitutto che la
disponibilità finanziaria ha il suo
peso sul risultato finale. Un film
a basso costo, nonostante una
buona fotografia, rimarrà
sempre tale, in quanto lo si
noterà dalla povertà delle
immagini che non riescono mai
a tradire l'occhio.
Il pubblico sta diventando
sempre più esigente, e per ciò si
rivela doveroso curare sempre
più i particolari, e porre più
attenzione alla composizione
dell'immagine in tutti i sensi.
Credo che l'immagine sia un po'
il frutto dello stato d'animo di
chi la costruisce, voglio dire, non
del solo regista, ma dell'intera
troupe e in particolare
dell'operatore di macchina e
dell'assistente operatore che
lavorano strettamente legati tra
loro, e fanno corpo unico con il
direttore della fotografia e col
regista. Infine, il "movimento"
vero e proprio è dato
dall'operatore, e in tal senso
bisognerebbe dare maggiore
importanza a questi due tecnici.
Il cinema italiano ha avuto e ha
tuttora operatori ed assistenti di
grande valore tecnico e per ciò
devono essere considerati in
ragione dell'importanza che
assumono nella realizzazione del
film. E colgo quest'occasione per
poter dire: "Bravi ragazzi' voi
rappresentate i potenziali
direttori della fotografia di
domani!"
