CARLO GOLDONI
Da “La guerra”
….. Poh!
SUZANNE VEGA
ONE WORLD – FOR ONE WORLD, ONE VOICE
We’re all in one wide field
We thought there was no end
Walking as the field went dry
What did we do then?
We’re all in one wide place
Burning every leaf and bough
Watching as the field goes dry
And what do we do now?
And what do we do now?
UN MONDO – PER UN MONDO, UNA VOCE
Noi siamo tutti in un ampio campo
Pensammo che non avesse fine
Camminando mentre il campo diventava arido
Cosa facemmo allora?
Noi siamo tutti in un ampio luogo
Bruciando ogni foglia e ramo
Guardando il campo che diventa arido
E cosa facciamo adesso?
E cosa facciamo adesso?
Suzanne Vega
PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER
I was dreaming in my dreaming
Of an aspect bright and fair
And my sleeping it has broken
But my dream it lingered near
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
That the people have the power
To redeem the work of fools
Upon the meek the graces shower
It’s decreed the people rule
People have the power
People have the power
Vengeful aspects became suspect
And bending low as if to hear
And the army ceased advancing
Because the people had their ear
And the shepherds and the soldiers
Lay beneath the stars exchanging visions
And laying arms to waste in the dust
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to he cry
People have the power
People have the power
Where the were deserts
I saw fountains
Like cream the waters rise
And we strolled there together
With none to laugh oi criticize
And the leopard and the lamb
Lay together truly bond
I was hoping in my hoping
To recall what I have found
I was dreaming in my dreaming
God knows a purer view
As I surrender to my sleeping
I commit my dream to you
People have the power
People have the power
The power to dream to rule
To wrestle the world from the fools
It’s decreed the people rule
It’s decreed the people rule
Listen I believe everything we dream
Can come to pass thru our union
We can turn the world around
We can turn the earth’s revolution
We have the power
People have the power
Aspetti vendicativi divennero sospetto
Piegandosi in basso per ascoltare
E gli eserciti cessarono di avanzare
Perché la gente era stata ascoltata
E i pastori e i soldati
Scambiandosi visioni
Dove c’erano deserti vidi fontane
Le acque si alzano come panna
E giravamo insieme
E nessuno ironizzava o criticava
E il leopardo e l’agnello
Giacciono insieme lealmente accanto
NO ALLA GUERRA
in nostro nome
Non in nostro nome
sarà intrapresa una guerra senza fine
non ci saranno altri morti
né altre trasfusioni
di sangue per il petrolio
Non in nostro nome
invaderete altri paesi
bombarderete i civili, ucciderete altri bambini
a fornire armi e denaro
per schiacciare altre famiglie
in terre straniere
siano giudicati malvagi
Non sarà per nostra volontà
e Non in nostro nome
Noi ci impegniamo a resistere
Ci impegniamo ad allearci con loro
che hanno subito attacchi
per essersi espressi contro la guerra
o a favore della propria etnia o religione
Ci impegniamo a fare causa comune
con i popoli di tutto il mondo
per portare giustizia
pace e libertà
Un altro mondo è possibile
e noi ci impegniamo perché diventi realtà
“Not In Our Name” è un grande cartello di movimenti e forze
Parole ubriache
rotolano intatte
su coscienze lucidate,
vetrificate…
Cordoglio di anime
che celano
il proprio sole
dietro
candele illusorie
Tiepidi riverberi
di stagioni di sale.
Oggi il tempo è maturo…
esige nuove semine
la luce incalza
per nuove onde.
THE FIDDLE AND THE DRUM
…
and so once again
oh America my friend
and so once again
you are fighting us all
and when you ask you why
you rise your sticks
and cry and we fall
oh my friend
how did you come
to trade the fiddle for the drum
you say we have turned
like the enemies you’ve earned
but we can remember
all the good things you are
and so we ask you please
can we help you
find the peace and the star
oh my friend
we all came to fear
the beating of your drum
IL VIOLINO E IL TAMBURO
…
e così ancora una volta
oh America amica mia
e così ancora una volta
stai lottando contro tutti noi
e quando ti chiediamo perché
alzi le tue bacchette
e urli e noi cadiamo
oh amica mia
come sei arrivata
a scambiare il violino con il tamburo?
Dici che siamo diventati
Come i nemici che ti sei fatta
Ma possiamo ricordare
Le cose belle che tu sei
Dunque ti chiediamo
Per favore possiamo aiutarti
A trovare la pace e la buona stella?
Oh amica mia
Siamo tutti arrivati al punto di temere
Il colpo del tuo tamburo
