Introduction
This document illustrates the activities
developed for the ANCONAPA-
CO Project concerning the use of
very high resolution satellite data for
small scale applications (1:5000 -
1:10.000). In fact, thanks to new satellite
image techniques over the last
few years it has been possible to
acquire a great deal of data on the
earth’s surface at a specific time inter-
>> Introduzione
>>
a piccola scala (1:5000 - 1:10.000). Negli ultimi
classificazioni da satellite con dati ausiliari;
correzione dei dati fotogrammetrici e satellitari per
l’effetto topografico;
analisi dei fattori fisiografici che caratterizzano un
determinato fenomeno ambientale (rischio di incendio,
distribuzione spaziale di determinate fitocenosi,
classificazioni fitoclimatiche etc.);
areas as follows:
Creation of the DTM of the Marche
Region and Province of Durres
The Digital Elevation Model, or DEM,
usually refers to an image whose pixels
represent the altitude values of a
surface (altitude of the surface a.s.l.).
In the environmental field many sectors
use DTM databases; below are
some of the main applications:
Satellite classifications with auxiliary
data
Correction of photogrammetric
and satellite data for the topographic
effect
Analysis of physiographic factors
characterising a specific environmental
phenomenon (risk of fire,
spatial distribution of certain phytocenoses,
phytoclimatic classifications
etc.)
Terrain surface erosion model.
the rising of water level (mapping
etc);
Marche Region Study Area
The area of study includes the coastal
area of the March Region which presents
an orography characterised by
moderately high reliefs and not particularly
steep valleys.
Such configuration requires an algorithm
that can interpolate in conditions
of insufficient information (valley
floor) on the one hand and of great
altimetric information (mountain
side) on the other.
The data was supplied by the
The DEM created which covers the
entire area of study is formed by a
regular gridded matrix with 13074
rows and 10265 columns with a cell
resolution side of 10 metres.
Each cell is saved in float format, in
order to record any fraction of the
measurement unit, that is the metre.
The method adopted is based on the
algorithm implemented by the Idrisi
software (Intercon module) which
