this, the third phase of the cycle of a product is regulated: the
end of life, but with the necessity to intervene on the parts
at source, that is the design and production. An important
challenge, a wide range play, considering the aspects relating
to new materials, production technologies and those of
dismantling, the system of treatment of the remaining materials,
etc., but above all to do in a short time, given that the
expiries are foreseen just around the corner.
Will we make it? Yes, surely, but on condition that we start
immediately and without hesitation. And for the future? Is it
possible to foresee that in the near future we will arrive at
controlling, still more stringently, even the impact on the environment
of the first phase of the cycle of life of the vehicle,
that is to say the production.
The real question, however, is whether we should wait for
regulations that force us in that direction or someone will
start earlier, perhaps seeking to transform an environmental
restriction into a competitive advantage..
We will see. In any case the Fiat Research Centre is also rapidly
moving in this direction to “play” in advance.
