CARATTERISTICHE GENERALI<br />
Il Tunnel <strong>di</strong> Base attraversa alcuni delle principali Zone geologico-strutturali<br />
delle Alpi Nord-Occidentali.<br />
I contatti tettonici tra le varie unità tettoniche sono spesso rappresentativi<br />
<strong>di</strong> strutture <strong>di</strong>sarticolate e conseguentemente <strong>di</strong> con<strong>di</strong>zioni <strong>di</strong> <strong>di</strong>fficile<br />
avanzamento. Tuttavia, tali contatti sono attraversati in <strong>di</strong>rezione quasi<br />
ortogonale rispetto all’asse <strong>di</strong> <strong>scavo</strong> e ciò rappresenta una con<strong>di</strong>zione<br />
favorevole all’avanzamento.<br />
Le con<strong>di</strong>zioni <strong>di</strong> carico litostatico sono molto variabili (max. 2.400 m).<br />
Sono previste con<strong>di</strong>zioni geotermiche <strong>di</strong>fficili (T°C attese = 60-70 °C).<br />
