Once the kings of the <strong>Europ</strong>ean rail network, the <strong>Trans</strong>-<br />
<strong>Europ</strong>-<strong>Express</strong> (TEE) trains were the last cry in sophisticated<br />
travel.<br />

Lovingly restored, these luxurious trains have been given<br />
a new lease of life. You can charter the entire 210seat<br />
train for a personalised excursion, which can also<br />
become a culinary voyage of discovery. And since it‘s<br />
always more fun to travel in company, the TEE is ideal<br />
for office an club outings or for corporate events.

Cenni storici<br />
Gli elettrotreni policorrente RAe TEE II introdotti nel<br />
1961 rivoluzionarono in tutta <strong>Europ</strong>a il concetto di tecnica<br />
e comfort. Potendo supportare quattro diversi tipi di<br />
correnti di tensione potevano essere agevolmente impiegati<br />
in tutta <strong>Europ</strong>a. Gli eleganti elettrotreni delle FFS<br />
in circolazione tra Milano, Parigi, Bruxelles e Amsterdam<br />
erano considerati il biglietto da visita dell’industria<br />
dei rotabili. Cinque composizioni TEE hanno percorso<br />
per quasi 40 anni le reti di tutta <strong>Europ</strong>a, dal 1988 in veste<br />
modificata come EuroCity. Le composizioni FFS RAe<br />
TEE II sono circolate per l’ultima volta come treni in<br />
coincidenza con il TGV da Berna via Neuchâtel a Frasne<br />
(Francia), per poi essere tolti dalla circolazione nel<br />
1999. FFS <strong>Historic</strong> ha rilevato la composizione meglio<br />
conservata, il RAe TEE II 1053, dandole una seconda<br />
giovinezza.<br />

<strong>Historic</strong>al summary<br />
Introduced in 1961, these four-voltage RAe TEE II multiple<br />
units set new standards in comfort and technology<br />
throughout <strong>Europ</strong>e. Being equipped with four different<br />
electric power systems, they could be used right across<br />
the continent. From Milan and Paris to Brussels<br />
and Amsterdam, these elegant <strong>SBB</strong> multiple units were<br />
considered to be the visiting card of the rolling stock<br />
industry. A total of five TEE formations were used for<br />
almost 40 years – from 1988 onwards, they operated<br />
in a different livery as EuroCity trains. In more recent<br />
years, the <strong>SBB</strong> RAe TEE trains were operated as TGV<br />
connecting trains from Berne via Neuchâtel to Frasne<br />
(France) until they were taken out of service in 1999.<br />
<strong>SBB</strong> <strong>Historic</strong> then took on the best maintained unit, the<br />
RAe TEE II 1053, thus giving it a new lease of life. Today,<br />
this luxury train with first-class seating throughout<br />
is available for excursions.<br />
