Details are also available for other, earlier, occurrences of the illicit trafficking of
high-activity radiological sources. One example involved the
illegal export of the
isotope Iridium-192 from Radioisotope Factory No. 45 at the Mayak Production
Association to a company in the United Kingdom. The iridium was exported under
falsified customs documents that had been prepared by the factory staff. The scheme
