L'industria tessile ha una presenza rilevante
nello scenario economico dell'India.
Oltre a fornire una delle necessità di
base per la vita, l'industria tessile indiana
svolge un ruolo fondamentale in quanto
contribuisce alla produzione industriale,
crea occupazione e proventi derivanti
dall’export del paese.
Attualmente, contribuisce per circa il
14% della produzione industriale, il 4%
del PIL e il 17% degli introiti derivanti
dall’export. Il settore tessile è il secondo
maggior fornitore di posti di lavoro dopo
l'agricoltura. Così, la crescita e lo sviluppo
di questo settore hanno un impatto
diretto sul miglioramento dell'economia
della nazione.
L'industria tessile indiana è estremamente
varia, da un lato si hanno la filatura
e la tessitura ancora realizzate a mano,
dall’altro si ha l'intensità del capitale, con
il settore delle filature sofisticate.
Lo stretto legame del settore con l'agricoltura
e l'antica cultura e le tradizioni
del paese, rende il settore tessile indiano
unico se comparato all'industria tessile di
altri paesi.
L'India è il secondo produttore di cotone
al mondo, contando per il 17% della
produzione mondiale, con la più elevata
superficie coltivata, ovvero circa 9 milioni
di ettari. Le esportazioni del tessile
contribuiscono al 17% degli utili totali
dell’export indiano, e la quota dell'India
nel settore tessile e dell’abbigliamento del
mercato globale è del 4% e 3%, rispettivamente.
Il paniere delle esportazioni tessili
è costituito da indumenti readymade,
tessuti di cotone, tessuti a base di fibra
sintetica, lana e prodotti di lana, seta, artigianato,
cocco e iuta. L’industria tessile
in India è considerata un settore pionieristico,
poiché l’industrializzazione indiana
in altri settori ha avuto luogo attraverso le
risorse generate dal settore tessile.
L'industria tessile indiana è al secondo
posto in termini mondiali. Vanta il primato
per estensione di coltivazione a cotone ed
è considerata come il terzo maggior produttore
di questa fibra. È al quarto posto
in termini di produzione di fibre in fiocco
e al sesto per la produzione di filati in
filamento. Il paese rappresenta circa 1/4
degli scambi mondiali di filati di cotone.
The Indian Textiles Industry has an
overwhelming presence in the overall
economic scene of India. Apart from
providing one of the basic necessities
of life, the textiles industry also plays a
pivotal role through its contribution to
industrial output, employment generation
and the export earnings of the
country. Currently, it contributes about
14% to industrial production, 4% to the
GDP and 17% to the country's export
earnings. The textiles sector is the
second largest provider of employment
after agriculture. Thus, the growth and
all round development of this industry
has a direct bearing on the improvement
of the economy of the nation.
The Indian textiles industry is extremely
varied, with the hand spun and handwoven
sector at one end of the spectrum
and the capital intensive, sophisticated
mill sector at the other. The close linkage
of the industry to agriculture and
the ancient culture and traditions of the
country make the Indian textiles sector
unique in comparison with the textiles
industry of other countries.
India is the second largest cotton producer
in the world, accounting for 17% of
the global production, with the largest
cultivated area, which is approximately
9 million hectare. Textiles exports
contribute 17% to the country's total
exports earnings, and India's share in
the global textiles and apparel market is
4% and 3%, respectively. The textiles
exports basket consists of readymade
garments, cotton textiles, textiles made
from man-made fibre, wool and woolen
goods, silk, handicrafts, coir, and jute.
Textile industry in India is considered as
a pioneer industry, as India's industrializations
in other fields have succeeded
through the resources generated by
textile industry.
World over, the Indian textile industry is
considered as the second largest industry.
It has the biggest cotton acreage
and is considered as the third largest
producer of this fibre. In terms of staple
fiber production it comes 4th and 6th
for filament yarn production. The country
reports about 1/4th of global trade in
cotton yarn.

territorio indiano dal 1991. Oggi, attraverso
Savio India, è posizionata nel mercato
sia come produttore industriale che come
distributore dei prodotti Savio. Savio India

programma dal 2 al 7 dicembre 2012 al
Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre,

With over 20,000 spindles in 600 Polar
link winder machines, India is by far the
first and largest market for full automatic
link systems. The first to believe in
full automation to overcome the shortage
of labour, cut running costs and
enhance the quality of the end product.

such that it has surpassed the traditional
round magazine models in sales
volumes.

ROCCATURA A CINQUE STELLE: POLAR/I-DLS
FIVE STAR WINDING: pOLAR/I-DLS
La soluzione POLAR/I DirectLinkSystem,
per collegare il filatoi alle roccatrici,
permette una alimentazione diretta,
rapida ed efficiente delle spole, ed una
flessibilità di interfacciamento completo
con tutti i tipi di filatoi ad anello (singolo o
multistep). Molti importanti mercati in via
di sviluppo stanno investendo su questo
tipo di macchina, a causa della crescente
difficoltà di assunzione di manodopera,
per i vantaggi qualitativi e di produzione
che tale soluzione offre. Pertanto in tutti
i paesi, si sta assistendo ad una rapida
trasformazione degli impianti dotati di
filatoi senza dispositivi di levata e con roccatrici
free-standing, verso soluzioni con
collegamento completamente automatico.
La POLAR/I-DLS vanta un’alimentazione
diretta dal filatoio diventando dunque
una sorta di estensione del filatoio stesso,
assicurando un libero flusso dei materiali.
Dalla spola del filatoio ad anello alla rocca
finale, il filo non viene toccato e non ha
tempi di transito, garantendo la massima
qualità, minor movimentazione dei materiali
e bassissime possibilità di contaminazione.
Quando Savio ha esordito con
questo nuovo sistema, oltre al dispositivo

di collegamento diretto, sono stati previsti
altri obiettivi principali per soddisfare ogni
nuovo sviluppo relativo alla progettazione
dei filatoi ad anello, nonché la necessità
di fornire al cliente le migliori opzioni in
considerazione delle sue richieste presenti
e future. In realtà, Polar/I-DLS è stata
progettata in modo “modulare", garantendo
la possibilità di raggiungere il maggior
numero di teste per andare incontro
alla tendenza dei produttori di filatoi
con macchine sempre più lunghe fino a
2.000 fusi. Questa soluzione modulare
offre a Polar/I-DLS la più alta capacità di
alimentazione fino a 72 spole al minuto
dai moduli di preparazione.
Ma, poiché il sistema di collegamento link
rappresenta il più alto livello di automazione
nella sala di filatura, la necessità
di intervento dell'operatore deve toccare
quasi livello zero. In realtà, come ogni
filatura sa, i valori della qualità del filato
possono essere mantenuti costanti ad un
livello impostato, fino a quando accadono
eventi sfavorevoli o accidentali. I
black out di energia, un evento comune
in alcuni paesi, arrestano il processo di
filatura e, al riavvio,vengono realizzati ul-
teriori riattacchi di filato, e ognuno di essi
potrebbe essere considerato un difetto; o
alcune teste non vengono riattivate con
il risultato che queste bobine non sono
completate o sono malformate. Il basso
livello di qualità del filato può anche derivare
da un riattacco manuale difettoso
del filo della bobina del banco a fusi, e
in ogni caso questa bobina deve essere
sostituita nella cantra. Statisticamente
abbiamo osservato che i difetti tecnologici
sul filo da roccare, sono principalmente
dovuti a difetti originati nel processo del
banco a fusi.
Non ultimo, per ottimizzare la fase di fine
lotto, tutti i resti di spole devono circolare
ed alimentare le teste di roccatura fino
alla completa formazione delle rocche.
In altre parole, il sistema link o meglio la
roccatrice collegata a un filatoio ad anello,
deve essere studiata per minimizzare tutti
gli eventi sopra citati che possono causare
una bassa efficienza della macchina.
The Savio POLAR/I DirectLinkSystem
solution, for linking the ring spinning
frames to winders, enables a fast and
efficient direct feeding of spindles,
along with the full interfacing flexibility
with all kinds of ring spinning frames
(single or multistep). Many important
developing markets are investing on
this kind of machinery, because of the
growing difficulty of hiring labor, for
the quality and production advantages
that such solution offers. Therefore in
all those countries, we are witnessing
a rapid transformation from plants
equipped with ring spinning frames
without doffing devices and with freestanding
winder, to the fully automatic
link solution. The POLAR/I-DLS boasts
a unique spinning frame to winder close
loop feeding system, the winder being
an extension of the same, ensuring total
free flow of the materials. From ring
frame bobbin to the final package, the
yarn is processed untouched and with
zero transit time, ensuring maximum
quality, less material handling and no
chances of contamination. When Savio
started with this new system, in addition
to the direct link device, some other
main targets have been foreseen in
order to satisfy each new developments
on ring frame design, as well as the
necessity to provide our customer with
the best options in consideration of their
present and future potential requests. In
fact Polar/I-DLS has been designed in a
“modular type” granting the possibility
of reaching the highest number of
winding heads to match the trend of
the spinning frame manufacturers with
longer and longer machines even above
2.000 spindles. The modular design
allows the Polar/I-DLS the highest
feeding capacity of up to 72 bobbins/1’
from its preparation modules. But, since
the link winder system represents the
highest level of the automation, in the
winding room, great concern was also
given to the operator intervention that is
expected to reach an almost zero level.
In reality, as every spinning mill knows,
the yarn quality values can be kept
even to a set level until unfavorable or
accidental events come in place. Energy
black out, a common event in some
countries, stops the spinning process

and upon restart of it additional yarn
piecings are made, and each of them
could be a defect; or some spindles are
not even restarted with the result that
those bobbins are not completed and
with bad shape too. Low yarn quality
level may also derive from a defective
manual piecing of the roving frame
bobbin yarn, whenever this bobbin has
to be replaced in the creel. Statistically
we observed that the technological
defects on the yarn to be wound, are
mainly due to defects originated in
roving frame yarn area.Last but not
least, to optimize the phase of the end
lot end, all the remaining bobbins, or
piece bobbins have to be circulated on
the winding heads, until packages are
full.In other words, the link system or
better the winder linked to a ring frame,
must be ready and prepared to minimize
all the above events that causes low
machine efficiency.

contrario, l'operatore dovrebbe intervenire
per recuperare la bobina, rimuovere manualmente
la porzione del filato difettoso,
e riposizionare la bobina sulla macchina.

Consequently, the expected higher
efficiency and operators saving,
because of the highest automation as
on link process, risks to be very much
decreased. The “Spindle Identification
System”, available on the winder as
option, represents a mere monitoring
system, which register the defect
and its cause, but it is not enough
to optimize the winder efficiency.
These are the reasons why Savio
Polar/I-DLS can be equipped with the
optional feature of the “Smart back up
preparation station”. All the bobbins
rejected by the winding heads, upon
the Electronic Clearers intervention,
for the above mentioned technological
defects or due to bad shaped bobbins,
are automatically led to the “Smart
back up preparation station”. This
device is designed and engineered
specially to remove from the bobbin,
the defective portion of the yarn, and
return the “clean bobbin” again to the
winding heads. All these operations,
are automatically made, without any
operator intervention, while, on the
contrary, the operator must intervene to
recuperate the bobbin, remove manually
the portion of the defective yarn, and
place the bobbin back on the machine.

In occasione del simposio tenutosi il 7
settembre 2012 a Dindigul / TN, India del
Sud, il management Savio ha consegnato
ufficialmente la 1.000 ° roccatrice Polar
fornita in India al cliente Palmar Mills.
Gabriele Checchini, CEO di Savio
India, e P. Mare Chettiar, proprietario
della filatura, hanno partecipato alla
celebrazione di questo importante
obiettivo.
Savio ha fornito circa 4.000 macchine
Polar in tutto il mondo: un quarto del
volume di vendite Polar è rappresentato

Fondata nel 1989, Palmar Mills impiega
oggi 200 persone. L'azienda produce filati
per il mercato locale e per l’export. Ha
28.800 fusi ring ed una linea di roccatura
composta da 5 Polar, nonché 3 roccatrici

generazione, con cui avviò la produzione
nel 1990.
Polar è una macchina allo stato dell’arte,
progettata tenendo conto delle esigenze
dei clienti alla ricerca di un prodotto
per aumentare la produttività, ridurre i
consumi energetici e produrre rocche
prive di imperfezioni, in grado quindi di
assecondare la necessità di una maggiore
produttività in Tessitura, Orditura e
Maglieria.
Ulteriore enfasi è stata posta nella facilità
di interfaccia tra utente e macchina,
tenendo soprattutto conto degli ambienti
di lavoro in Asia, principale mercato di
macchine per filatura.

In occasion of Savio symposium held on
2012 Sept. 7th at Dindigul/TN, South
India, Savio management officially
handed over its 1,000th Polar winder
supplied in India to M/S Palmar Mills.
Mr. Gabriele Checchini, Savio India’s
CEO, and Mr. P. MARE CHETTIAR,
owner of the mills, participated the
celebration of this important goal.
Savio has now reached nearly 4,000
Polar winding machines delivered
all over the world, whose one-fourth
is represented by Indian sales. This
confirms the commitment of Savio
towards this important market.
Founded in 1989, M/S Palmar
Mills employs today 200 people.
The company produces yarn for the
local/export market. It has 28,800
R/F spindles and the winding lineup
consists of 5 Polar as well as
3 automatic winders of previous
generation Orion with which operations
started in 1990.
Polar state-of-art machine has been
designed keeping in mind customer’s
needs of a product which can increase
the productivity, reduce the power
consumption, hard waste and can
produce a fault free package, which can
justify the need of higher productivity in
Weaving, Warping & Knitting sector.
Further empathizes has been given to
make the machine totally trouble free
and user friendly, particularly keeping in
mind of working environments in Asian
Mills, which is and will be the major
market of Spinning Machinery.

La nuova generazione di ritorcitoi a doppia
torsione, SIRIUS, ha debuttato in anteprima
mondiale alla fiera ITMA ASIA 2010.
Questo ritorcitoio nasce dalle richieste dei
clienti del Far East di una significativa riduzione
in costi di energia e manodopera.
Oltre alla richiesta di sostenere ridotti costi
di investimento e di abbassare i consumi
energetici, grande importanza assumono
anche i tempi e i costi di manutenzione.
Questa macchina prevede: un’alta standardizzazione
a livello strutturale; un’ampia
gamma di alimentazioni e dimensioni
dei fusi per ogni gamma di filati e titoli;
una grande scelta di optionals disponibili;
facilità d’uso e soluzioni elettroniche per
ridurre il numero degli operatori. La versione
Electronic Drive System (EDS) differisce
dalla versione meccanica per la totale
flessibilità di variazione delle impostazioni.
Il modello Sirius EDS è equipaggiato con
motori ed inverter indipendenti, che permettono
di impostare tutti i parametri dal
computer di bordo. Questa innovazione
deriva dal know-how elettronico che Savio
già impiega in altri sofisticati prodotti.

twisters, SIRIUS, debuted as world
preview at the ITMA ASIA 2010 fair.
This twister responds to the demands
of Far East customers looking for a
significant reduction in labor and
energy. Besides the demand to sustain
low investment costs and lower energy
consumption, the customers also take
on great importance time and cost of
maintenance. This new model foresees:
a high structural standardization, a
wide range both for feeding and spindle
dimensions for every yarn type and
count, electronic solutions to simplify
the operator intervention and reduce the
maintenance workforce. The Electronic
Drive System (EDS) version differs
from the mechanical version for the
full flexibility of setting adjustments.
The Sirius EDS model is equipped
with independent inverters and motors,
which allow to set all processing
parameters by the machine PC. This
innovation derives from the electronic
know how that Savio has experienced on
other sophisticated products.
The simple touch screen PC allows
to change settings continuously, the
operator can obtain every possible

In caso di mischie con poliestere o con
filati di cotone con titoli fini, il cesto di
controllo ballon può essere facilmente
rimosso per trasformare il processo in configurazione
ballon libero. Sirius può essere
equipaggiato con diversi tipi e diametri
di fusi a seconda dei titoli di filato e dello
scartamento fusi, che può essere 200 o
250 mm. La velocità del fuso arriva fino
a 13.000 giri/min. con qualsiasi conicità
in raccolta. Il comando e la geometria
del fuso sono progettati per raggiungere
il massimo risparmio energetico; il fuso è
anche dotato, su richiesta, del dispositivo
di infilaggio pneumatico. L'EDS utilizza tre
motori indipendenti per azionare, rispettivamente,
la velocità del fuso, la raccolta
(sovralimentatore e cilindri) e il guidafilo.
Un sistema elettronico di controllo lega i
rapporti di velocità tra i vari motori, garantendo
in ogni momento la costanza delle
torsioni impartite al filato, sia a regime che
durante le fasi di avviamento/arresto. Il
motore principale aziona esclusivamente i
fusi, e funge da riferimento anche per i restanti
due motori. La sincronia è assicurata
anche in caso di improvvise mancanze
di energia elettrica.

control pot can be easily removed in
order to transform the process into a
“free ballon” configuration.
Sirius can be equipped with different
types and diameters of pots depending
on yarn counts and spindle gauge,
which is either 200 or 250 mm.
Spindle speed up to 13.000 rpm
depending on pot size with any
take up conicity. Spindle drive and
geometry are designed to achieve the
maximum energy saving and spindle
is also equipped upon request of the
pneumatic threading device. The EDS
uses three independent motors to drive,
respectively spindles speed, take-up
(overfeed and drums) and thread guide
movement. An electronically control
links the speed ratio among the various
motors, guaranteeing in any moment
the twist evenness, both during normal
running conditions and start/stop
phases. The main motor exclusively
drives the spindles, in sync with the
other two motors.
