Lambda Sensor visual check
On removal of the Lambda sensor first inspect its condition. Any sign of damage to the body, wires or the
plug you should change the sensor. If you are replacing the engine for what ever reason you should always
change the sensor as well, likewise if you have to replace the Catalytic Converter for any reason always change
the Lambda sensor as well.
RICH FUEL MIXTURE
Rich running problems or engines
that are burning oil will lead to the
Lambda sensor getting fouled or
clogged up.
ANTI-FREEZE CONTAMINATION
In the event of a leaking or blown head
gasket anti-freeze contamination will
damage the Lambda sensor.
SILICONE POISONING
Using fuel additives or lubricants that
contain silicone in will damage the
Lambda sensor.
