DORNBRACHT the SPIRITof WATER Iserlohn
ISERLOHN
Vol. 1
A substantial
documentation of
the Dornbracht
Culture Projects
ISERLOHN
documents and reflects on the Dornbracht
Culture Projects. The magazine provides background
information, presents other projects by
the artists and demonstrates the company’s claim
to always safeguard artistic freedom as the
greatest good. If this were not the case, then it
would not always be possible to obtain internationally
renowned artists, designers, photographers,
musicians and authors for the different projects.
The name ISERLOHN expresses the origin of the
company, the starting point of an internationally
active manufacturing company with a claim to be
a culturally-relevant designer of living space. The
recollection of the values of origins and traditions
in the name forms an immediate contrast to the
globalisation that is being discussed on many sides.
The first issue of ISERLOHN contains, amongst
other things, an essay by Udo Kittelmann on
Rosemarie Trockel and her work “It was night, it
was cold, and we’d drunk a lot” – produced for
Statements 3, the video project in the Statements
series. With Udo Kittelmann, Director of the
Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt, Dornbracht is
also initiating the annual exhibition plan for the
Dornbracht Installation Projects. The Museum
of Modern Art is currently showing the fifth
Dornbracht Installation Project: the “Frankfurt
Salon” by Anton Henning. Also in the first issue:
an interview with the painter Katharina Grosse, a
statement from the author Ulf Poschardt on the
photographs in “Märchenstüberl” by Juergen Teller
and an obituary of Michel Majerus, written by
Daniel Birnbaum, Director of Portikus, Frankfurt.
ISERLOHN
nasce per raccontare al pubblico i Dornbracht
Culture Projects.
204
Dornbracht Installation Projects, Kölnischer Kunstverein, 2000
If we are dead, so it is
Michel Majerus
notte, faceva freddo e avevamo bevuto molto”,
realizzata per Statements 3, videoprogetto della
serie Statements.
espositivo annuale Dornbracht Installation
Birnbaum, direttore dell’associazione culturale
Portikus di Francoforte.
ISERLOHN
Documenta y refleja los proyectos de Dornbracht
Culture.
Statements. Con Udo Kittelmann, director del
Museo de Arte Moderno de Frankfurt (MMK),
Dornbracht inició también el concepto de exposición
anual de los Dornbracht Installation
Installation, Energetic-Recovery-System, Gallery Ulrich Fiedler, 2002
Mike Meiré
Projects. Actualmente el MMK muestra el quinto
Dornbracht Installation Project: el “Frankfurter
Salon” de Anton Henning. También en la primera
edición: una entrevista con la pintora Katharina
Grosse, una declaración del autor Ulf Poschardt
sobre las fotografías de Juergen Tellers “Märchenstüberl”
y una esquela de Michel Majerus redactada
por Daniel Birnbaum, director de Portikus,
Frankfurt.
