Mia and the Migoo
Mià è una bambina di dieci anni che vive in un piccolo villaggio
dell’America del Sud insieme a tre anziane donne. La madre è
morta da tempo e il padre, Pedro, lavora lontano, nella foresta
amazzonica, alla costruzione di un complesso alberghiero. Una
notte Mià si sveglia improvvisamente e, convinta che possa essere
successo qualcosa al padre, decide di raggiungerlo. Dopo aver
recuperato i suoi tre amuleti (un dado, una piuma e un guscio di
lumaca), parte così per un viaggio che la porterà a incontrare i
Migù, gli spiriti della foresta incaricati di custodire un maestoso
albero (cuore dell’intero pianeta), e scoprire quindi la straordinaria
ricchezza del mondo naturale.
Mia is a 10-year-old girl who lives with three elderly women in
a village in South America. Her mother has long since died and
her father works far away in the Amazon on the construction of
a hotel complex. One night, Mia wakes up suddenly. In the fear
that something has happened to her father, she sets off to find
him, taking with her three amulets (a die, a feather, and a snail
shell). Along the way she meets the Migoos, forest spirits that
guard a majestic tree (the heart of the planet), and discovers the
wonders of nature.

Jacques-Rémy Girerd made his
first feature, Raining Cats and
Frogs (2003), followed by Mia
and the Migoo (2008), winner
of the European Film Award. He
won the 2010 Prix Henri-Langlois
at Rencontres Internationales du
cinéma de Patrimoine, Vincennes.
