Il suo nome è Green ed è una femmina di orango<br />
che a causa della deforestazione che l’uomo<br />
ha operato per creare le piantagioni di palme<br />
da olio ha visto ridursi sempre di più il suo habitat<br />
naturale: oggi i pochi esemplari rimasti<br />
sopravvivono nelle foreste pluviali del Borneo<br />
e della Sumatra. Accompagnando il grande primate<br />
nei suoi ultimi giorni di vita, scopriremo la<br />
straordinaria biodiversità sempre più a rischio,<br />
offerta da queste regioni del pianeta.<br />
Her name is Green; she’s a female orangutan;<br />
she’s seen her natural habitat disappear around<br />
her as the forests have been cleared to make way<br />
for palm plantations. Today, few orangutans still<br />
inhabit the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra.<br />
Accompanying Green on her final days, we discover<br />
the extraordinary biodiversity of these areas<br />
and the threat of their destruction.<br />

Grazie al successo di Home, le Nazioni Unite<br />
hanno chiesto a Yann Arthus-Bertrand di realizzare<br />
il filmato ufficiale di inaugurazione<br />
dell’Anno internazionale delle foreste che cade<br />
nel 2011. Il regista ci guida così, rigorosamente<br />
dall’alto, alla scoperta di un patrimonio straordinario<br />
che da trecentottanta milioni di anni,<br />
grazie alla produzione di ossigeno che garantisce,<br />
permette la sopravvivenza della nostra<br />
specie e dell’intero pianeta.<br />
Following on the success of Home, the United<br />
Nations asked Yann Arthus-Bertrand to make<br />
the official film for the inauguration of International<br />
Forest Year 2011. Filmed from the air,<br />
the forest reveals how, through the production<br />
of oxygen for the past 380 million years, it has<br />
enabled higher forms of life to develop and survive<br />
on earth.<br />
