un conflitto atomico è definitivamente tramontato?
Grazie a interviste con politici come Tony
Blair, Jimmy Carter, Michail Gorbaciov o Robert
McNamara, scopriamo al contrario che in virtù
di fattori come il terrorismo e il furto di materiale
nucleare anche bellico, questo tragico scenario
è al contrario più plausibile di quanto non
lo fosse prima della caduta del Muro.

Irpinia orientale. Franco Arminio si è inventato una
nuova forma di letteratura: la «paesologia», una
disciplina tanto indispensabile quanto del tutto
inafferrabile. Vaga infatti nei piccoli centri abbandonati
dopo il terremoto del 1980 e, grazie agli incontri
con i pochi anziani rimasti (dal vecchio contadino
all’emigrante vissuto negli Stati Uniti ma
poi tornato in paese), riesce a evocare un mondo
quasi scomparso che ormai nessuno racconta più.
Eastern Irpinia. Franco Arminio has invented a
new form of literary study: «paesology», a genre
both essential and indefinable. He wanders
the villages abandoned after the 1980 earthquake
to talk with the few old people who have
remained in the area (from an old farmer to
an immigrant who returned to his village after
having lived in the United States), and to give
voice to the story of a nearly forgotten world
no one is telling any more.
