Il signor Meier ha una vita tranquilla e serena:<br />
una casa con il giardino, una bella auto e ogni<br />
mattina ama fare colazione all’aperto sul suo<br />
terrazzo. Anche se molto più attento da un<br />
punto di vista ecologico dei suoi vicini scoprirà<br />
però l’esistenza di costi da lui generati che hanno<br />
un peso determinante nell’impronta ecologica,<br />
un indice statistico che mette in relazione<br />
il consumo umano di risorse naturali con la capacità<br />
della Terra di rigenerarle.<br />
Mr. Meier leads a quiet life: a house with a garden,<br />
a nice car, breakfast on the terrace every<br />
morning. Although much greener than his neighbors,<br />
he discovers that the costs he generates<br />
are part of the ecological footprint, a measure<br />
of human demand on the earth’s ecosystems.<br />

Dopo una breve parentesi introduttiva in cui<br />
si ripercorre la storia dell’uomo da poco prima<br />
della Rivoluzione industriale a oggi, seguiamo<br />
una famiglia come tante in una giornata tipo e<br />
il suo impatto ambientale quotidiano, in particolare<br />
per quanto riguarda l’inquinamento.<br />
Ispirato allo stile dei filmati educativi degli anni<br />
Cinquanta, il cortometraggio è stato candidato<br />
all’Oscar nel 2011.<br />
Following a brief introduction of history from<br />
just before the Industrial Revolution to the<br />
present, the film accompanies a normal family<br />
on a normal day in an attempt to discover its<br />
ecological footprint, and how much of it is pollution.<br />
Adopting the style of 1950s educational<br />
films, this short was nominated in 2011 for an<br />
Oscar for Best Short Film, Animated Category.<br />
