Islamophobia: A Challenge for Us All “Islam is perceived as a monolithic block, staticand unresponsive to change; it is viewed asseparate and “other”; it does not have values incommon with other cultures, is not affected bythem and does not influence them. Islam is seenas inferior to the West; it is considered barbaric,irrational, primitive and sexist; Islam is seen asviolent, aggressive, threatening, supportive ofterrorism and engaged in a “clash ofcivilizations.”
