PETER BROOKE’S WORK WITH ACTORS
Summary
Peter Brook considers actors to be a main body a theatre
supports on. He has come up to this conclusion step-by-step i.e.
has used the way of experiment and error, unholding back from
searching.
In the Artistic skill, as in all other spheres of creation, Brook
prefers to intuition, subconsciousness, he gives the whole
advantage to an actor’s mysterious machinery of creation”. He
is categorically against the schemes worked at beforehand not
only in the production, but the Artistic works either, That is his
exceptionally principle matter. He thinks that in the process of
scenic creation divulging of productive view is inadmissible.
because such an attitude does not kindle an actor’s energy,
on the contrary puts down it. Sometimes when too much
time passes before a producer grows out of the thought of the
categories with desired results, instead of it he will strives to
discover source of energy in actor with which there spring up
real creative impulses.
Brook does not consider selfdivulging to be the most value
of art. The important thing for him is what an actor expresses
and what purpose this expression surves. With this regulation
Brook draws nearer to religious nomination of Art, according to
which any creation is so much delightful as virtuous and kind.
The purpose of all religions is to kindle virtue towards a near
relation, isn’t it?
