• If a worker has undergone the <strong>MSOC</strong> certification but cannot locate his records, his employer<br />

should approach the accredited training provider (ATP) at which the worker was certified, to<br />

update test records on the websites.<br />

<strong>MSOC</strong> content <strong>and</strong> test<br />

What are the topics covered in the test How many different languages will the course <strong>and</strong><br />

test be conducted in<br />

• The topics include <strong>Workplace</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> issues under the <strong>Workplace</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong><br />

Act as well as workers’ rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities under the Employment Act, Work Injury<br />

Compensation Act (WICA) <strong>and</strong> other employment legislation.<br />

• Sample questions will be available on the WSHC (www.wshc.gov.sg) <strong>and</strong> MOM (www.mom.gov.<br />

sg) websites from 1 October 2009.<br />

• The course <strong>and</strong> test are conducted in 7 languages, namely, English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil,<br />

Bengali, Thai <strong>and</strong> Hindi.<br />

What is the duration of the course <strong>and</strong> test<br />

• The <strong>MSOC</strong> is a one-day course <strong>and</strong> this is inclusive of the test.<br />

• Existing workers who are due to get re-certified <strong>and</strong> who do not have to attend the course are<br />

advised to set aside about 3 hours for the test.<br />

What are the changes to the test format <strong>and</strong> what is the passing mark<br />

• The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions in total, with 30 questions on workplace safety<br />

<strong>and</strong> health <strong>and</strong> 10 questions on workers’ rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities.<br />

• The current passing mark of 60% remains unchanged.
