SCUBA D IVI N G PENYELAMAN SCUBA
Alphas 7, 8 & 9 - Mamutik
As part of the adventure phase, all groups took part in a SCUBA diving
conservation programme run in conjunction with Borneo Divers and
Sabah Parks.
Groups spent four days on Mamutik island, in the Tunku Abdul
Rahman Marine Park, completing their PADI (Professional Association
of Diving Instructors) Open Water Diver or more advanced
qualifications.
Following the course, two days were spent on environmental activities
within the Marine Park. These activities varied from beach and reef
cleanups, reef surveys and coral harvesting for reef rejuvenation.
During the course of the week, the groups have had to endure the
pains and pleasures of living on a tropical island.
Sebagai sebahagian daripada fasa pengembaraan, kesemua peserta
Raleigh yang layak telah mengambil bahagian dalam program konservasi
penyelaman SCUBA, hasil kerjasama di antara Raleigh, Borneo Divers
dan Taman-taman Sabah.
Kumpulan-kumpulan Raleigh telah menghabiskan masa empat hari
di Pulau Mamutik yang terletak di Taman Marin Tunku Abdul Rahman
di Kota Kinabalu untuk mendapatkan kelayakan PADI (Professional
Association of Diving Instructors) di tahap Open Water Diver atau
kelayakan yang lebih tinggi.
Kursus tersebut diikuti oleh kerja-kerja konservasi di bawah permukaan
air di mana ahli-ahli Raleigh telah membersihkan kawasan taman marin
itu. Mereka juga terlibat dalam program mengumpul anak batu karang
untuk ditanam semula.
