On which Soma-Devarasa and Boppa-Devarasa, (on <strong>the</strong> date<br />

specified, —1245 A. D.), com<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> town of <strong>the</strong>se petitioners (aga<strong>in</strong> named),<br />

caused it to be renewed by Baichaya and Kannaya, and gratified those Kailasas,<br />

Be it well. When, (with usual titles), <strong>the</strong> pratapa-chakravartti Hoysanavira-SomSsvara-DGva<br />

was <strong>in</strong> . ... rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world <strong>in</strong> peace<br />

and wisdom:—<strong>the</strong> temple priests of <strong>the</strong> god Ramanatha (named, as above),<br />

<strong>the</strong>se Kailasas, tak<strong>in</strong>g to that k<strong>in</strong>g (titles and name repeated) <strong>the</strong> consecrated<br />

food, and bless<strong>in</strong>g him with long life, royal prosperity, and victory to his arm<br />

and sword,—Soma-Deva and Boppa-Devarasa granted Mavanur on <strong>the</strong> bank<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Kaveri <strong>in</strong> Ja. .nad to <strong>the</strong> god Ramanatha.<br />

As soon as <strong>the</strong>y had made petition, say<strong>in</strong>g,—Give orders for sett<strong>in</strong>g up <strong>the</strong><br />

grant <strong>in</strong> Mavanur, Deva!—(on <strong>the</strong> date specified), <strong>the</strong> Hoysala k<strong>in</strong>g vira-<br />

Somesvara-Deva, with Boppa-Deva, Soma-Deva, <strong>the</strong>ir royal children (rdyasakdsugal)<br />

and o<strong>the</strong>rs, co<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, set up a Nandi pillar <strong>in</strong> Mavanur, and <strong>the</strong> stone<br />

sasana <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> temple of Ramanatha.<br />

Be it well. When, with all titles, Hoysana vira-Narasiriga-Dcvarasa was <strong>in</strong><br />

Dorasamudra, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world <strong>in</strong> peace and wisdom: — (on <strong>the</strong><br />

date specified), for <strong>the</strong> god Ramanatha of <strong>the</strong> thousand beautiful l<strong>in</strong>gas,<br />

Hampanna, Gummanna and Basavanna of <strong>the</strong> Konga-nad customs, granted for<br />

<strong>the</strong> god's perpetual lamp, offer<strong>in</strong>gs, and betel leaf, <strong>the</strong> Devarahalli .. loom<br />

tax, goat tax, with <strong>the</strong> money for births . and marriages, The artificers of<br />

<strong>the</strong> village will give for <strong>the</strong> god <strong>the</strong> dues from two shops, and <strong>the</strong> loom tax.<br />

The oilmen, however many <strong>the</strong>re may be, will give daily half a mdna of oil for<br />

each mill, from which <strong>the</strong> pfydkdri will ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> god's perpetual lamp<br />

without <strong>in</strong>terruption. The potters and artificers of <strong>the</strong> village will give a<br />

load of rice for <strong>the</strong> god, and vessels for <strong>the</strong> lamp-oil. Thus much did <strong>the</strong><br />

customs officials grant, free of all imposts. Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses.<br />

m<strong>in</strong>ister, <strong>the</strong> smiter and displacer of Sevuna, titled l<strong>in</strong>ga of <strong>the</strong> royal army,<br />

an elephant goad to <strong>the</strong> braves, <strong>the</strong> senior m<strong>in</strong>ister for peace and war,<br />

Bommanna-dannayaka;—Kallayya, son of Ramarasa of <strong>the</strong> Kasyapa-gdtra,<br />
