(specified). And Kariya-jiya's son Mahadevarasi-pandita, giv<strong>in</strong>g his cow and<br />

his cloth, built Nelliyagundi and <strong>the</strong> tank. Also an oil-mill was given and<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r grants. Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses. Invocation of long life and prosperity<br />

Ballala-Deva .... hav<strong>in</strong>g granted <strong>the</strong> favour, (a number of persons named)<br />

all <strong>the</strong> Kusugal of Nagara Navile <strong>in</strong> Nirgunda-nad, hav<strong>in</strong>g agreed toge<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

and decided to make Navile an agrahara, when <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> koppa of<br />

Nallfi.ru, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom, hav<strong>in</strong>g an Inteiview and present<strong>in</strong>g a petition,<br />

Narana-bhatta, Gopaya and o<strong>the</strong>r chief men of various gotras, toge<strong>the</strong>r with<br />

Bhu... vidvamsa, for 160 Brahmans, (on <strong>the</strong> date specified), <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> presence<br />

of <strong>the</strong> gods Vajresvara and Narasimha, made <strong>the</strong> grant, rated at 300 gadyana<br />

a year, freed from kattu-guttige, p<strong>in</strong>dd-ddna and all o<strong>the</strong>r imposts. Usual<br />

f<strong>in</strong>al verses.<br />

And aga<strong>in</strong>, —Ballala-Deva be<strong>in</strong>g of full age, hav<strong>in</strong>g established Narasimha<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom and gone to heaven, he f<strong>in</strong>ally adhered to <strong>the</strong> lotus feet of<br />

(? <strong>the</strong> god) vira-Narasimha, and wished for <strong>the</strong> spread of his fame to all <strong>the</strong><br />

po<strong>in</strong>ts of <strong>the</strong> compass. Thus be<strong>in</strong>g ano<strong>in</strong>ted to <strong>the</strong> throne, <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g vira-<br />

Narasimha, determ<strong>in</strong>ed to make an expedition of victory <strong>in</strong> all directions, first<br />

went to <strong>the</strong> east, and be<strong>in</strong>g surrounded, uprooted <strong>the</strong> Magara k<strong>in</strong>g, set up <strong>the</strong><br />

Chola k<strong>in</strong>g who sought refuge with him, and hav<strong>in</strong>g seen (<strong>the</strong> god) Allalanatha,<br />

stationed <strong>the</strong>re a body of <strong>the</strong> Bherundas l) to uproot <strong>the</strong> evil, roturned, and<br />

enter<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Ratnakuta 2) capital, was at peace. Then <strong>the</strong> body of Bherundas<br />

accord<strong>in</strong>g to his order rema<strong>in</strong>ed for some time <strong>in</strong> Kanchi-pura. And hav<strong>in</strong>g seen<br />

<strong>the</strong> lord of Kanchi-pura, <strong>the</strong> remover of <strong>the</strong> fears of <strong>the</strong> world, <strong>the</strong> worshipful<br />

Allalanatha, and mark<strong>in</strong>g both <strong>the</strong>ir arms with his two signs3 ) , <strong>the</strong> servants<br />

went forth, and hav<strong>in</strong>g conquered unequalled hostile forces and <strong>the</strong> V<strong>in</strong>dhya<br />

mounta<strong>in</strong>s, acquired <strong>the</strong> renown of a present day Agastya for <strong>the</strong> body of vira-<br />

BhSrundas. Thus on <strong>the</strong> way, hav<strong>in</strong>g taken <strong>the</strong> hand of <strong>the</strong> Lakshmi of victory,<br />
