engraved it. Name of <strong>the</strong> builder of <strong>the</strong> tank and particulars of land given<br />

to him. Boli-damrnadi set up <strong>the</strong> sasana stone.<br />

Praise of Sambhu. The Yadava named Sal a became Poysala by kill<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

tiger <strong>in</strong> SaSakapura, and from him arose <strong>the</strong> Poysala-vamia.<br />

Be it well. When, (with usual titles, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g) a lion to <strong>the</strong> lusty elephant<br />

Adiyama, a thunderbolt to <strong>the</strong> great rock Pandya, Janarddana to <strong>the</strong> Kaitabha<br />

<strong>the</strong> Kadava k<strong>in</strong>g, uprooter of <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> Makaia k<strong>in</strong>g, establisher of<br />

<strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> Chola k<strong>in</strong>g, — Hoysana vira-Ballala-Deva was <strong>in</strong> his own royal<br />

city Dorasamudra, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world <strong>in</strong> peace and wisdom: —<br />

A dweller at his lotus feet, — Be it well. Wheu (on <strong>the</strong> date specified) <strong>the</strong><br />

pratapa-chakravaitti Hoysala vira-Ballfila-Deva paid a visit to <strong>the</strong> Barakur<br />

army,—on his order<strong>in</strong>g Ankeya-Nayaka, son of <strong>the</strong> gtoat master of robes,<br />

Honneya-Nayaka of Bagivala <strong>in</strong> Kumiiravittiya Kusa of <strong>the</strong> old Nirugundanad,<br />

say<strong>in</strong>g "Rema<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> Barakur",— he replied "I will stay (ulfwmi), Jiya".<br />

At which, be<strong>in</strong>g pleased, he granted to him Aladahalli, a hamlet of Bagivala,<br />

as a kodagi, putt<strong>in</strong>g up boundary stones <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> presence of <strong>the</strong> four boundary<br />

villages, to cont<strong>in</strong>ue as long as sun and moon. Great good fortune. Sii Sri. Stf<br />

Verses <strong>in</strong> piaise of <strong>the</strong> bravery of Jakka, son of Bomma-gavuda (much<br />

defaced).<br />

Be it well. (On <strong>the</strong> date specified), <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> fight about <strong>the</strong> boundaiy of<br />

Bagade and Kittanakere, Bomma-gavuda's son Jakkayya, fight<strong>in</strong>g so as to<br />

w<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> approval of those with him, ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> world of gods. On which his<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r and his elder bro<strong>the</strong>r set up this viragal. And all <strong>the</strong> Brahmans of<br />

Vijaya-Narasimhapura, which is Bagade, be<strong>in</strong>g pleased, granted as an umbali<br />

certa<strong>in</strong> land (specified), to cont<strong>in</strong>ue as long as sun and moon<br />

This liberality was ? <strong>in</strong>scribed by Matoja's son, <strong>the</strong> sculptor Makoja<br />
