laudations), a Kasyapa, was Nrjananda-deva. His wife was Hittavve His<br />

younger bro<strong>the</strong>r was Sankara-dova, whose wife was Satavve Their younger<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>r was Gopala-deva, whose wife was S<strong>in</strong>yavve Their fa<strong>the</strong>r was Ananda-<br />

bodha-deva-mun<strong>in</strong>dra of S<strong>in</strong>davige, whose wife was Changavve. Her fa<strong>the</strong>r was<br />

Gov<strong>in</strong>da-pattavarddhana.<br />

Be it well. When, (with usual titles), <strong>the</strong> uprooter of <strong>the</strong> Magara k<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

<strong>the</strong> ostabhsher of <strong>the</strong> Chola k<strong>in</strong>gdom, <strong>the</strong> pratapa-chakravarth Hoysala, vira-<br />

Narasimha-Devarasa, <strong>in</strong> order to make a victorious expedition over Paudya,<br />

was <strong>in</strong> Ravitadt<strong>in</strong>akuppa, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world —m a discourse on<br />

dharmma <strong>in</strong> an assembly held m <strong>the</strong> porch (or on <strong>the</strong> terrace,—dehdra), <strong>the</strong><br />

chapla<strong>in</strong> [Nijananjdisvara-bhatta, Saiikanna and Gopanna [resolved to] set up<br />

a god <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> name of <strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> svami of S<strong>in</strong>davige. On which (tho k<strong>in</strong>g)<br />

say<strong>in</strong>g, "You do so <strong>in</strong> Somanathapura, which is Haruvanahajh",—those<br />

Brahmans, approach<strong>in</strong>g him, and obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g a grant of land as an endowment,<br />

caused a temple to be erected, and <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Saka year 1156, Jaya, etc, set up<br />

<strong>the</strong> god Lakshmi-Narasimha, provided vessels and ornaments, and for <strong>the</strong><br />

offer<strong>in</strong>gs to <strong>the</strong> god mado over <strong>the</strong> land (specified) which <strong>the</strong>y had received at<br />

- <strong>the</strong> hands of <strong>the</strong> emperoi Narasi<strong>in</strong>ha-Deva.<br />

And at <strong>the</strong> same time, <strong>the</strong> accountant Visvanatha-deva, a follower (dasa) of<br />

<strong>the</strong> svami of S<strong>in</strong>davige, made a grant of land (specified) for it. And Vedartha<br />

Varjanatha-bhatta, a follower of <strong>the</strong> svami, made a grant (specified) for it<br />

And <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> year Manmatha, <strong>the</strong> gioat m<strong>in</strong>ister Mayideva-dannayaka made a<br />

giant (specified) for it<br />

And <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> same year all <strong>the</strong> Brahmans of <strong>the</strong> immemonal agrahata<br />

Somanathapura, which is Haruvanahalh, be<strong>in</strong>g assembled <strong>in</strong> a great council,<br />

Nijesvaia-bhatta do<strong>in</strong>g revcrence to those Brahmans, said, "Through your<br />

favour I have set up <strong>the</strong> god Lakshmi-Narasimha <strong>in</strong> this land which you<br />

favoured, its protection for ever is now <strong>in</strong> your hands". On which, <strong>the</strong>y be<strong>in</strong>g<br />

pleased, made grants of land (specified), and <strong>the</strong>mselves came and set up <strong>the</strong><br />

boundary stones.<br />

Moicover, when <strong>the</strong> Iloysala emperor Sovi-Devaiasa, be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Mangalada-<br />

koppa on a victorious expedition over Kadava-Raya, was ruhug <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom<br />

of <strong>the</strong> world:-—In <strong>the</strong> year Durmmukha, etc., at <strong>the</strong> time of mak<strong>in</strong>g great<br />

gifts at <strong>the</strong> sankramana, <strong>the</strong> senior <strong>in</strong>spectors of <strong>the</strong> jewel treasury, Rechanna<br />

and Rayanna, and <strong>the</strong> chapla<strong>in</strong> Gopanna, represent<strong>in</strong>g that <strong>the</strong> god Lakshmi-<br />

Narasimha set up by Nijesvara-bhatta <strong>in</strong> Somanathapura was worthy of a grant<br />

from his favour, he granted <strong>the</strong> fixed rent payable by sasana from Lakshmi-<br />

Narasimhapura, which is Kembola. Great good fortune. Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses.<br />

Anandabodha-prabhu's follower (dasa), ornament of <strong>the</strong> Ga. -kula, a necklet<br />

for <strong>the</strong> throats of good poets, Somanatha-pandita composed (helularu) <strong>the</strong> verses.
