Account of <strong>the</strong> Hoysalas. Of Efeyanga it says that <strong>the</strong> Malava k<strong>in</strong>g's hillfort,<br />

which was too strong for <strong>the</strong> Chalukyas, he without effort plundered,<br />

while Chalukya was look<strong>in</strong>g on Of Vishnu it is said, he uprooted <strong>the</strong> v<strong>in</strong>o <strong>the</strong><br />

fame of <strong>the</strong> Chdla and o<strong>the</strong>r k<strong>in</strong>gs, Chera, Pandya and many o<strong>the</strong>rs. He was<br />

<strong>the</strong> raja of <strong>the</strong> Male rajas, <strong>the</strong> Yudhishthira of <strong>the</strong> Kali age, greater than Bah,<br />

Sibi, or <strong>the</strong> Khachara k<strong>in</strong>g. Obeisance to Dharmmesvara, to Mahadcva, and<br />

to siva<br />

Be it well. When, (with usual titles, mclud<strong>in</strong>g) a submar<strong>in</strong>e fire to <strong>the</strong><br />

ocean <strong>the</strong> Tuluva army, an elephant to <strong>the</strong> lotus garden <strong>the</strong> Pandya-kula, —<br />

with <strong>the</strong>se and all o<strong>the</strong>r titles, Tnbhuvanamalla, <strong>the</strong> capturor of Talakadu<br />

Kougu Nangah Gangavadi Nonambavadi Banavase and Hanungal, <strong>the</strong> strongarmed<br />

Vira-Ganga pratapa-Hoysala Narasimha-Deva, putt<strong>in</strong>g down <strong>the</strong> evil<br />

and uphold<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> good thtoughout <strong>the</strong> circle of <strong>the</strong> earth, was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> residence<br />

of Dorasamudra, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>in</strong> peace and wisdom —<br />

Worshippor of his fa<strong>the</strong>r k<strong>in</strong>g Vishnu's lotus feet, this k<strong>in</strong>g Naiasimha, <strong>the</strong><br />

eldest son of k<strong>in</strong>g Vishnu, was a bee at <strong>the</strong> lotus feet of Vishnu, a sun to<br />

<strong>the</strong> darknoss foreign k<strong>in</strong>gs, born <strong>in</strong> a puie race, greater than Jishmi <strong>in</strong><br />

enjoyment<br />

The head-jewel of villages, more beautiful than Amarapura, was granted by<br />

<strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g Vishnu, and with 200 ornaments of Soma dnnkeis did Kellangerc<br />

sh<strong>in</strong>e Praise of Kellangere and of <strong>the</strong> Brahmans, as <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> preced<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong><strong>in</strong>scriptions</strong><br />

In <strong>the</strong> 85th year of <strong>the</strong> Chalukya-Vikrama-kala, <strong>the</strong> year Vikrama etc.,—<br />

for <strong>the</strong> offer<strong>in</strong>gs to <strong>the</strong> god Dharmmesvara, for <strong>the</strong> perpetual lamp, decoiations<br />

and temple repairs, — all <strong>the</strong> Brahmans of Hanharapura, which is Kcllangoie,<br />

wash<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> feet of Sivasakti-pandita, <strong>the</strong> priest of that temple, made a grant<br />

of lands (specified).<br />

And <strong>the</strong> heggades of <strong>the</strong> customs remitted <strong>the</strong> customs dues payable to<br />

<strong>the</strong>m, to provide for <strong>the</strong> perpetual lamp of <strong>the</strong> god. And <strong>the</strong>y gave one oilmill<br />

for <strong>the</strong> god Dharmmesvara, and one oil-mill for <strong>the</strong> god Kesava And to<br />

Nachaya, <strong>the</strong> worshipper of <strong>the</strong> god Dharmmesvara, <strong>the</strong>y granted <strong>the</strong> customs<br />

dues on looms and <strong>the</strong> plaited hair tax. Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses.<br />

May Siva (with various epi<strong>the</strong>ts) grant long life to <strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>ister Kali-Deva<br />

Some say<strong>in</strong>g, I will build a temple and collect<strong>in</strong>g money for <strong>the</strong> purpose,<br />

use it for <strong>the</strong>ir own livelihood, but Machaya, look<strong>in</strong>g upon <strong>the</strong> money he so<br />

collected as not to be used for himself, elected a mantapa for Dharmmanatha<br />

In <strong>the</strong> same year, Bachimayya of <strong>the</strong> customs department and o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

(named) granted an oil-mill for Dharmmesvara, and <strong>the</strong> customs on looms to<br />

Machaya. om. Obeisance to Siva.<br />
