Be it well When, (with usual titles), Hoysala vtra-Ballala-Ddva was<br />

rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world —dwell<strong>in</strong>g under <strong>the</strong> shadow of his umbrella<br />

was Kellangere; to describe whose greatness:—With tanks that may he<br />

compared with seas, with groves like <strong>the</strong> groves of Sakra, with <strong>the</strong> voices of<br />

hoys and parrots, — so attractive is Kellangere that <strong>the</strong> lords of both Sri<br />

and Gauri dwell <strong>the</strong>re, for which reason it is called Hariharapura. And <strong>the</strong><br />

Brahmans of Kellangere are poets, readers, speakers and orators, lovers of<br />

fame, devoted to <strong>the</strong> lotus feet of KeSava. The dear son of those Brahmans,<br />

a joy to <strong>the</strong> Vaishnava sect, was Manchyana's (son) KeSava, who (on <strong>the</strong> date<br />

specified) made a grant of money, from <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>terest on which to provide rice,<br />

ghee, etc. for.<br />

for oil for wheel grease, crowbar, pickaxe, oil for . and o<strong>the</strong>r necessaries —<br />

For eveiy cart-load of <strong>the</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al tenants, 2 tdra i} ; for a load of areca-nut,<br />
