limbs Vishnu seized <strong>the</strong> heads of Chola's chiefta<strong>in</strong>s. To that Vishnuvarddhana<br />

and to Lakshma-Devi was born <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g Narasimha. To whom and to his<br />

crowned queen Echale was born vira-Vikrama-Ballala.<br />

Be it well. When, (with Chalukya and Hoysala titles), <strong>the</strong> emperor Hoysana<br />

vtra-Ballala-Deva, putt<strong>in</strong>g down <strong>the</strong> evil and uphold<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> good throughout<br />

<strong>the</strong> circle of <strong>the</strong> earth, was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> residence of Dorasamudia, lul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world <strong>in</strong> peace and wisdom: —<br />

Be it well. When <strong>the</strong> great master of <strong>the</strong> robes, a bold peifect Kevanta <strong>in</strong><br />

rid<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> most vicious horses, (with o<strong>the</strong>r epi<strong>the</strong>ts), worshipper of <strong>the</strong> feet of<br />

<strong>the</strong> god Somanatha, <strong>the</strong> senior bherunda, Tadakusa Ghanteya S<strong>in</strong>gayya's (son)<br />

Nagayya, hav<strong>in</strong>g received Satiyabhegere, free from all imposts, was tuhug it<br />

without trouble; — Sasamuni-deva hav<strong>in</strong>g set up <strong>in</strong> Ghanteya-Smgayyanahalh<br />

<strong>the</strong> god Smgesvara <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> name of S<strong>in</strong>gayya, for <strong>the</strong> daily offer<strong>in</strong>gs to that<br />

god, <strong>the</strong> temple repaits, for gifts of food to <strong>the</strong> matha-pati and ascetics, to<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>ue as long as sun moon and stars, <strong>the</strong> Gaudas (named) of Satiyabhegere,<br />

Smgayya be<strong>in</strong>g present, (on <strong>the</strong> date specified), wash<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> feet of Baraugi-<br />

Sidda's son Sasamuni-deva, made grants of laud (specified). Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses<br />

<strong>the</strong> Sop<strong>in</strong>ahalli village belong<strong>in</strong>g to Banavara to Tiruverigalaya, who made it<br />

over to (<strong>the</strong> god) Chennigaraya of Beliir Imprecation<br />

down <strong>the</strong> evil and uphold<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> good <strong>in</strong> all <strong>the</strong> world, was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> residence<br />

A dweller at his lotus feet (with various epi<strong>the</strong>ts) was Jayagonda-Nayaka,<br />

whose wife was Marave, and <strong>the</strong>ir son was Machi-deva. . Be it well. Seveial<br />

Nayakas (named) and <strong>the</strong> Gaudas of Holalakere be<strong>in</strong>g present, (on <strong>the</strong> date<br />

specified), for <strong>the</strong> decorations, illum<strong>in</strong>ations and offer<strong>in</strong>gs of <strong>the</strong> god Ramftnatha,<br />

for <strong>the</strong> perpetual lamp, temple repairs, and gifts of food to <strong>the</strong> ascetics,—<br />

wash<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> feet of.,. jiya, disciple of .. . (stops here).
