When, entitled to <strong>the</strong> five big drums, <strong>the</strong> maha-mandale'svara Tribhuvanamalla,<br />

capturer of Talakadu, <strong>the</strong> strong-armed Vira-Ganga Hoysala Bitti-Deva,<br />

putt<strong>in</strong>g down <strong>the</strong> evil and uphold<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> good <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gaiigavadi N<strong>in</strong>ety-six<br />

Thousand, was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> residence of Dorasamudra, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>in</strong> peace<br />

and wisdom: —<br />

A dweller at his lotus feet, (with various epi<strong>the</strong>ts, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g) entitled to<br />

<strong>the</strong> five big drums, maha-samanta, descended <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Somanvaya, worshipper of<br />

<strong>the</strong> feet of Nola[mbal-Deva, receiver of a boon from <strong>the</strong> goddess Sarada, his<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r's (ayyana) lion, - was S<strong>in</strong>garasa of Arasiyakere. Hav<strong>in</strong>g received<br />

Kahkatti <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Magare Three Hundred, when govern<strong>in</strong>g it free from all<br />

troubles, (on <strong>the</strong> date specified) he set up <strong>the</strong> god S<strong>in</strong>gesvara, and <strong>in</strong> order to<br />

provide for <strong>the</strong> decorations of <strong>the</strong> god, etc., made a grant of land (specified),<br />

wash<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> feet of Kriyasakti-pandita, disciple of Paresvara-pandita, acharyya<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Naishtika-mata <strong>in</strong> Arasiyakere. Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses<br />

To Chenega and Sovabhe was born a son. His wife was Madikabhe, and<br />

to <strong>the</strong>m was born Maras<strong>in</strong>ga To Nolamba-Gaunda and Bimmikabhe was born<br />

Buva. To Buva and to Sovabhe was born Punusega. To him and to Chattabhe<br />

was born to be <strong>the</strong> ruler of <strong>the</strong> Eight Hundred, S<strong>in</strong>ga-samanta of <strong>the</strong> Kanigilu<br />

Four. Wash<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> feet of Kriyaiakti-pandita and of <strong>the</strong> S<strong>in</strong>gesvara temple<br />

priest's son Rama-deva, <strong>the</strong>y made <strong>the</strong> grant Two o<strong>the</strong>r small grants.<br />

When (with usual titles) Vira-Ganga Hoysala was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> residence<br />

of Dfirasatnudra, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>in</strong> peace and wisdom: — And a dweller<br />

at his lotus feet, (with various epi<strong>the</strong>ts), worshipper of <strong>the</strong> feet of Naras<strong>in</strong>ga-<br />

Deva, <strong>the</strong> great m<strong>in</strong>ister and general H<strong>in</strong>ya.... Bammeya, who had subdued<br />

Gaula, Chola, Chera, Pandya, Irungola and <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gs of every city, was<br />

rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>in</strong> peace; — The worshipper of his feet, (with various epi<strong>the</strong>ts)<br />

<strong>the</strong> abode of literature, <strong>the</strong> maha-samanta aechchana-Macheya-Nayaka's son,<br />

<strong>the</strong> samanta Ghasane-Mahadeva-Nayaka, hav<strong>in</strong>g received Kajikatti <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Magare Three Hundred, was govern<strong>in</strong>g it free from all obstruction; — (on <strong>the</strong><br />

date specified) Bammdja and Machoja hay<strong>in</strong>g set up <strong>the</strong> l<strong>in</strong>ga Kammatesrara,
