When (with usual titles) Hoysala vlra-Ballfila-Deva was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> royal city<br />

DSrasamudra, rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world <strong>in</strong> peace and wisdom: —A<br />

dweller at his lotus feet, was <strong>the</strong> door-kooper (padiyara) Soviyanna, whose<br />

wife was Malliyakka, and <strong>the</strong>ir sons Bachiga and Gumma. Malhyakka was<br />

<strong>the</strong> daughter of Machavve, <strong>the</strong> daughter of heggado Bachanna; (her praises)<br />

The senior padiyariti Mallavve and her son Sovanna, obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> favour<br />

of vira-Ballala-Deva, and to promote his prosperity, made for <strong>the</strong> decorations<br />

of <strong>the</strong> god Svayambhu-Malhkarjuna of <strong>the</strong>. . hill, and for <strong>the</strong> repairs of <strong>the</strong><br />

temple, a grant (specified) <strong>in</strong> Malhgeyahalli, free of all taxes (on <strong>the</strong> date<br />

specified), and made it over by <strong>the</strong> hand of vira-Ballala-Deva to <strong>the</strong> mum<br />

Rudrasiva-deva, his praises. Boundaries of <strong>the</strong> village Fur<strong>the</strong>r grants by<br />

<strong>the</strong> shopkeepers, oilmen, and traders. Imprecation<br />

presented offenugs of <strong>in</strong>cense, lights etc. to <strong>the</strong> god Bhairava of <strong>the</strong> hill of<br />

Dorasamudra, and repaired (<strong>the</strong> temple). Fortune and health be to him.<br />

k<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>the</strong> boundaries are given as west, <strong>the</strong> Western Ocean,<br />

east, <strong>the</strong> celebrated Kanchi-pura; south, <strong>the</strong> cha<strong>in</strong> of sandal mounta<strong>in</strong>s from<br />
