Hav<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> supreme profound syad-vada as a fruit-bea<strong>in</strong>g token, may it<br />

prevail, <strong>the</strong> doctune of <strong>the</strong> lord of <strong>the</strong> three worlds, <strong>the</strong> J<strong>in</strong>a doctr<strong>in</strong>e May<br />

it daily advance <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world, <strong>the</strong> ris<strong>in</strong>g sun <strong>the</strong> Ja<strong>in</strong>a sangha may prosperity<br />

be to <strong>the</strong> lotus pond <strong>the</strong> group of J<strong>in</strong>a yogis, may affection be to <strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Bhavyas (or blessed ones, <strong>the</strong> Ja<strong>in</strong>s), dist<strong>in</strong>guished for right pr<strong>in</strong>ciple, right<br />

kuowledge, and right conduct.<br />

May <strong>the</strong> favourite of <strong>the</strong> three worlds, unassailable by false speech, re­<br />

splendent with <strong>the</strong> triple white umbrella and chamaras, <strong>the</strong> destroyci of s<strong>in</strong>,<br />

his feet woishipped by Jambhantaka (India), <strong>the</strong> lord of all wisdom,—<br />

Vijaya-Parsva-tirt<strong>the</strong>svara, grant us prosperity Confiimed 1 ) Obeisance<br />

Obeisance, with faith, to him whoso feet are illum<strong>in</strong>ed with <strong>the</strong> ladiance of<br />

<strong>the</strong> gems <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> crown of <strong>the</strong> bow<strong>in</strong>g Indra, master of <strong>the</strong> merit of <strong>the</strong> three<br />

worlds, destioyer of desire, victor over birth, old age and death, — Vi|a)a-<br />

Be it welt with <strong>the</strong> lace of lloysala k<strong>in</strong>gs, whoso sword is more powerful<br />

than <strong>the</strong> thunder bolt <strong>in</strong> destioj<strong>in</strong>g hostile k<strong>in</strong>gs. To describe <strong>the</strong>n descent. —<br />

Fiona Brahma was Atu, from him Soma, from him Pururava, frorn him Ayu,<br />

frorn lum Nahusha, frOm him Yayati, from him Yadu <strong>in</strong> whose l<strong>in</strong>e arose<br />

spell, when <strong>the</strong> yogisvara, hold<strong>in</strong>g out <strong>the</strong> handle of his chamaia (of fan),<br />

said poy Sala (hit him, Sala). on which he teatlessly smote it; from which<br />

time <strong>the</strong> name Poysala came to <strong>the</strong> Yadu k<strong>in</strong>gs, and <strong>the</strong> flag of a tiger<br />

wav<strong>in</strong>g on a tod. By <strong>the</strong> boon of that yakshi <strong>the</strong> season be<strong>in</strong>g spnng (vasanla),<br />

from <strong>the</strong> name of <strong>the</strong> season <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g woishipped her as <strong>the</strong> goddess<br />

Vasantika.<br />

And sevetal Yadava k<strong>in</strong>gs uuder <strong>the</strong> name of Poysalas acquired <strong>the</strong> tiger<br />

Hag, ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> goddess of wealth, and subdued <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdoms of hostile k<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

In that l<strong>in</strong>e (omitt<strong>in</strong>g laudations) was Vmayaditya. His child was Ereyanga<br />

To him and to Echala-Devi, like <strong>the</strong> triad (Brahma, Vishnu and Siva), were<br />

born Ballala, Vishnu and Udayaditya Among <strong>the</strong>m Vishnu became <strong>the</strong><br />

greatest. As soon as he ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> crown all <strong>the</strong> hostilo k<strong>in</strong>gs fled to <strong>the</strong> sea-<br />

with a march ho acquired Kumara-nad and Talakadu, on putt<strong>in</strong>g his foot<br />

forward, Kanchi came under his command; before ho had flashed hab sword,<br />
