The descent of his chief m<strong>in</strong>ister was as follows (omitt<strong>in</strong>g laudations): —<br />

Praised by all was Ch<strong>in</strong>na-Veggade, whose wife was Makiyakka. Their son<br />

was Eranga, to whom Bokana gave employment as mane-veggade. When he<br />

went before, th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g that Hadavala-Boka was com<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gs of Chola and<br />

Kongu, trembl<strong>in</strong>g sought refuge, and gave up <strong>the</strong>ir elephants, horses and<br />

army, did <strong>the</strong>y not? His wife was Bachala, and he had a junior wife Machala-<br />

Devi. By <strong>the</strong> former he had a son Borama-Deva.<br />

This (with various epi<strong>the</strong>ts) Perggade Ereyamayya (on <strong>the</strong> date specified)<br />

set up <strong>in</strong> Mudugere <strong>the</strong> god named after himself Erangesvara aud built for<br />

it a splendid temple (Praise of <strong>the</strong> temple and of Mudugere). Its muni<br />

(with numerous epi<strong>the</strong>ts) was Nagarasi-pandita-dova, with worship of whose<br />

feet, he presented for <strong>the</strong> temple certa<strong>in</strong> lands (specified). (Usual f<strong>in</strong>al verses)<br />

Praise of Sambhu While <strong>the</strong> refuge of all worlds, favourite of <strong>the</strong> eatth,<br />

<strong>the</strong> maharajadhiraja, illustrious emperor, vfra-Ballala-Deva was rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world as far as <strong>the</strong> Heddore: — <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> fight which took place<br />

regard<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> boundary of Koravangala and Dudda, Baramoja and Masandja,<br />

<strong>the</strong> sons of Bittiyoja, hav<strong>in</strong>g fallen, all <strong>the</strong> Brahmans of <strong>the</strong> immemorial agrahara<br />

Santigrama and <strong>the</strong> farmers raised this stone to <strong>the</strong>ir memory.<br />

Praise of Sambhu.<br />

There was a k<strong>in</strong>g (omitt<strong>in</strong>g laudations) named V<strong>in</strong>ayaditya, whose son was<br />

Ereyanga-Deva. His wife was EchalarDevi, and <strong>the</strong>y had a son Vishnu, to<br />

whom and his wife Lakshma-Devi was born Narasimha. He, by his wife<br />

Echala-Devi, had a son Ballala.<br />

Be it well. On Sunday, <strong>the</strong> 10th of Sravana suddha, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> year Vijaya<br />

(21st July 1173), at <strong>the</strong> festival of <strong>the</strong> ano<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom and coronation,<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> residence at DCrasaraudra, of—entitled to <strong>the</strong> five big drums,<br />

<strong>the</strong> maha-uoandalesvara, boon lord of Dvaravattpura, a submar<strong>in</strong>e fire to <strong>the</strong><br />

ocean <strong>the</strong> Tuluva army, a wild-fire to <strong>the</strong> forest of <strong>the</strong> enemies' forces, an<br />

elephant to <strong>the</strong> lotus-garden <strong>the</strong> Pandya family, a male bMrunda, plunderer<br />

of foreign countries, a Bhima <strong>in</strong> war, a Kama of <strong>the</strong> Kali age, with <strong>the</strong>se<br />

and all o<strong>the</strong>r titles,—Tribhuvana-malla, <strong>the</strong> capturer of Talakadu, Kongu,<br />

Nangah, Nonambavadi, BanavaBe and Hanungal, <strong>the</strong> strong-armed Vtra-Ganga,<br />

unassisted hero, <strong>the</strong> fearless valiant Hoysaja vtra-Ballala-Deva: —
