Date 1174 A. D.<br />

When <strong>the</strong> raja of <strong>the</strong> hill rajas, <strong>the</strong> boldest of <strong>the</strong> hill country, <strong>the</strong> male<br />

bkerunda, Hoysala vira-Ballala-Deva was rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom of <strong>the</strong> world:—<br />

(on <strong>the</strong> date specified) Borayya, son of Sana-Qaunda of Havali-Paleya, and<br />

Kaleyya son of Baleyya, hav<strong>in</strong>g fallen <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Halevagil war, - his son Borayya,<br />

perform<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> krama-samproksha 1 , raised this stone, which was prepared by<br />

Muloja, son of Maloja.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> same reign, Maiiche-Gauda, son of Manohe Gonda of Hanchuru<br />

When <strong>the</strong> refuge of all <strong>the</strong> world, favourite of earth and fortune, raaharajadhiraja,<br />

born lord of Dvaravati-pura, sun <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Yadava sky, raja of <strong>the</strong><br />

hill nljas, champion over <strong>the</strong> hill ohiefs, a male bherunda, unshaken wrestler,<br />

<strong>the</strong> illustrious [Hoysalal vira-Ballala-Devarasa was <strong>in</strong> Raya . pattana,<br />

rul<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> enjoyment of peace and wisdom:—. ... son of<br />

<strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>ister Kan tana, with <strong>the</strong> great farmers .... (on <strong>the</strong> date specified)<br />

bought Hanchuru at <strong>the</strong> price of <strong>the</strong> time, and granted it<br />
