attent of disharmony within groups that seem to be homogenous according to their height.<br />
Lifestyle includes a great variety of aspects. In a Swedish project is shown that in families with a<br />
permissive upbringing style, genetic prerequisites have more positive influence on growth and capacities<br />
than in the case of a restrictive upbringing. A relationship is presented between healthy and unhealthy<br />
nutrition habits of Hungarian conscripts and the place of residence. In towns the quality of<br />
food consumption is better than in rural areas while the BMI values are significantly lower.<br />
In three contributions clinical aspects of auxology are presented. On the basis of auxological<br />
measurements it was decided in cases of precocious puberty to treat with LHRH only those girls at<br />
high risk of getting a small adult height. Compared to the untreated group treatment was succesfull.<br />
Based on the Hungarian National Growth Study skeletal maturation standards of the wrist and the<br />
hand have been developed. Research has started about needs and pattern of the sleep of adolescents.<br />
Neurologic attention is focussed on sleep-related breathing and movement disorders.<br />
With different aims auxological methods are introduced for sporting youngsters and young adults.<br />
Not only the achievements, but also what kind of sport is realistic given the body build. Important too<br />
is the prevention of sport injuries.<br />
The contributions in the booklet together form a worthy homage to my good friend Ottó.<br />
