produced no significant difference. The nasal cavity index of negrids is wide and that of europids is
narrow, the outer nose index of negrids is wide and that of europids is medium wide. Since with
negrids, the nasal wing width as compared to the nasal cavity is considerably wider than with
europids, while the height of nose is practically equal, there could be only one conclusion: width
measurements were primarily responsible for the proportional discrepancies of the nose. It has also
been proven that the width of the outer nose was not singularly determined by the quantitative
characteristics of the nasal cavity but also by other qualitative features (for example the form and the
variations of the nasal cavity's lower edge).
As the general purpose of my work I intented to extend the scientific arsenal of facial reconstruction
methods so that we can produce a closer resemblance to the original face as it once existed. A
further aim was to apply some recent knowledge of the facial skeleton and facial morphology in
plastic facial reconstruction. Up to the present I managed to complete 30 facial reconstructions, mostly
on skulls coming from various sites and various ages in Hungary. These revitalized faces show the
features of people living from prehistoric to medieval times in the exhibitions of various museums.
