PUBLISHER’S PREFACE
Present essay was written in the summer of 1953 when its author was a 5 th year student at the
Reformed Theological Academy of Budapest. He won the first prize with it at the national competition
of Ecclesiastical History, with the title “God’s people”. We publish this work in its original unabridged
form, which was never published before; the reformed periodical ‘Theológiai Szemle’ published a short
resume of it in its 1 st issue of 1997.
