PUBLISHER’S PREFACE
BARTÓK GYÖRGY : KANT
2004 is Kant anniversary: he passed away 200 years ago. We remember the philosopher who
fundamentally influenced with his critical philosophy the development of the European thinking. His impact
on us, Hungarians, is also huge: his direct influence on the prominent members of the first authentic
Hungarian school of philosophy — Károly Böhm and the Kolozsvár School of Philosophy — is more than
evident.
At this anniversary we publish the monograph written on him by György Bartók. This monograph was
written 80 years ago to commemorate the 200 th anniversary of Kant’s birth. In the future we plan to publish
Kant’s writings in Hungarian translation and the pieces of work on Kant and his œuvre written by the
members of the Kolozsvár School of Philosophy.
Máté Török of the National Széchényi Library’s Hungarian Electronic Library (Budapest, Hungary)
contributed to the production of the electronic version of this book. We wish to express our deepest gratitude
to him. The Kant-drawing was created by Prof. Soshichi Uchii, Professor of Philosophy of Science, Kyoto
University. We publish this picture by courtesy of him.
