Le week-end du Bol d’Or Mirabaud, ils seront des
milliers à se presser au bord de l’eau, de 7 à 77 ans,
à s’extasier devant des bateaux multicolores, toutes
voiles dehors, qui fendront les flots bleus du Léman
sous un soleil qu’on espère généreux.
Nous le savons: le Bol d’Or fait partie du patrimoine
sportif genevois. Cette course suscite toujours
un engagement populaire, pas uniquement chez
les participants, mais aussi et surtout parmi les
spectateurs. Cette course est unique. Il s’agit de
la plus importante régate au monde en bassin
fermé. C’est aussi la vitrine de la voile suisse,
avec certains bateaux qui sont de véritables
bijoux technologiques. La démonstration aussi
d’un savoir-faire helvétique avec, à bord, des
skippers et des équipages de grande qualité.
Ce qui fait le succès de la course, c’est ce mélange
entre navigateurs confirmés qui jouent la gagne
et les plaisanciers. Ceux-ci donneront le meilleur
d’eux-mêmes afin de faire bonne figure tout
en n’oubliant pas de prendre du plaisir.
Au nom de la Ville de Genève qui soutient
l’événement, je me réjouis de l’accès facilité du
public aux animations et au village cette année.
Ce village, avec ses stands et les animations
(concerts, présentations des concurrents, remise
des prix, etc.), se déplace au Port-Noir, le but
étant de faire venir un maximum de monde
pour faire du Bol d’Or une vraie fête du lac.

Come Bol d’Or Mirabaud weekend, thousands
of spectators of all ages will flock to the water’s
edge to marvel at the multi-coloured boats
as they slice their way, sails out, through the
blue waves of Lake Geneva, all beneath what
we hope will be gloriously blue skies.
The Bol d’Or is part of Geneva’s sporting heritage,
a race that continues to generate a huge amount
of expectation among participants and spectators
alike. It is a unique event. The largest inland
regatta in the world and the showcase of Swiss
sailing, it features boats that are nothing short of
technological works of art. The Bol d’Or is also
a demonstration of Swiss expertise, with some
extremely skilled skippers and crews taking part.
The success of the race lies in its fine blend
between seasoned sailors and enthusiastic
amateurs, who give their all and do their very
best, while remembering to enjoy the occasion.
On behalf of the City of Geneva – a faithful
supporter of the event – I am delighted that the
public will have easy access to the tented village
and its many stands and to the concerts, competitor
presentations, podium ceremonies and other
events that will be laid on this year. The village
will be located at Port-Noir, the aim being to
attract as many visitors as possible and make
the Bol d’Or a genuine celebration of the lake.
