Straightforward and efficient, this computerized procedure also speeds up and reduces to a
minimum the formalities that have to be completed on land on the eve of the race.
Under this index you will also find the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions as well as a Crew
Exchange for sailors without a boat and skippers without crew.
THE GENERAL PUBLIC…
The website has several headwords, starting with the “Regatta” index which contains lots of
information about the race and its history, the organizing committee and the past winners.
When it comes to following the regatta itself, you just need to click on the two headwords
“Race Tracking” and “News”. The first file gives real time access to 100 boats equipped with
GPS tracking devices: finding out which course and options each one takes is obviously very
interesting, especially for the one-class boats where they are in direct competition with
each other. This index concerns the whole fleet as it also provides non-stop coverage of the
times of all the boats and their rankings at Le Bouveret and their arrival at the Nautique.
The withdrawals are also listed here.
The public can also tune in directly through the Radio Lac website which gives complete
coverage of the race; last year this enabled a serious ‘Bol’ fan to live the emotions of the regatta,
hour by hour, from… Singapore.
As for the “News” section, this is fed throughout the race by the press agency Dynamics Group,
with the facts, new developments, commentaries and personal accounts.
Finally, the “Photo Gallery” gives access to photos and videos of the race. Each year, the Bol
d’Or Mirabaud Organizing Committee runs a competition with a prize for the best photo,
free of rights, posted on the website. It is open to all: competitors, accompanying persons,
spectators, amateur or professional photographers.
… AND THE ORGANIZERS
The website has all the necessary parameters for the internal management of the race right up to the
rankings. “The tool is now very efficient,” says Michel Glaus. “It enables us to dedicate a maximum amount
of time and energy to the competitors, the race itself, and all those involved in its organization.”
