A Return to In-Person PeerLearningSince its establishment in 2014, the NAP GlobalNetwork’s South–South peer learning offeringhas been a core pillar of our work—conveningconversations that allow policy-makers andadaptation practitioners to have honest andfocused exchanges on what works and does notwork in formulating and implementing NAPs.The pandemic caused the Network to pivot tovirtual convening. As travel restrictions eased,we were thrilled to reconvene peers to learnfrom one another in person.2022 Peer Learning Summit:Gender-Responsive NAP ProcessesHosts: Government of Jamaica, NAP Global NetworkParticipating countries: Belize, Botswana, Central African Republic,Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, Senegal, ZambiaLanguage: English and FrenchGender equality is a universal human right. It is also a key area ofintersection across both the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)and the Paris Agreement. The NAP process presents an importantopportunity to address gender inequalities, if it is undertaken in agender-responsive manner.This summit convened 10 African and Caribbean countries and was thefirst summit that the Network had held since 2019. Held bilingually inEnglish and French, it built bridges between peers from across the tworegions working to advance gender-responsive approaches to adaptation.2022 Regional Peer Exchange: Monitoring,Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)Hosts: Government of Botswana, NAP Global NetworkParticipating countries: Botswana, Kenya, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria,Rwanda, Somalia, ZambiaTracking progress on NAP processes through MEL is complex but vitalfor understanding and improving the adaptation planning process andits outcomes.This peer exchange for representatives of seven African countriesdelved into these issues to better understand MEL approaches for NAPprocesses.18Progress Report 2021–2022
