TWO STROKE HOUSE
05 | PART I
Drawing inspiration from an internal
combustion engine, the form of the
house became a play of volumes
locked in a perpetual dynamic dance
against each other.
The resulting floor plan allows for a
compact spatial layout with spaces
being adjacent to each other, thus
removing the need for corridors.

This project was aimed at
creating a successful clinic
where chronically ill patients
would be comfortable and at
ease.
In order to achieve this goal,
three main features have been
incorporated in to the design.
A R T S P A C E
L O U N G E
G A R D E N I N G
All these aspects help to
rejuvenate the inner-self of the
patients. Spaces where they can
express themselves and take
ownership of this facility and
therefore becoming its
participative stakeholders.

Located in Joo Chiat, Singapore, the
overall feel of the site is one of
claustrophobia and emptiness. Some
public spaces are scattered
throughout the site but they are poor
attempts to free up this chaotic mess.

This exercise aims to define the state
of cities of 2050, with food production
as the primary focus.
Long-term temporary accommodation
dubbed the slow house, is the medium
in which the concept is applied.
By 2050, our requirements for food
will surpass the Earth's capacity to
provide, unless we change our ways.
The design incorporates features
which facilitate localized food
production.
Through localized production, the
entire process would be made twice as
efficient reducing the need for most of
the required logistical operations in
traditional farming.
In the span of 30 years, our cities will
be producing their own food.

Modules were designed, creating a
language that echoes through the
entire site, carrying consistent yet
different spatial experiences.
Spread throughout the site is a web of
pedestrian paths connecting the
allocated hubs, ensuring everything is
accessible to everyone. These paths
weave through the site, connecting
not just horizontal planes but
vertically as well.
Existing buildings on site are kept and
repurposed as required.
