Encore peu développé, le canal Internet pourrait constituer un média plus important de relation avec la clientèle, même s’il demeure limité dans la mesure où les clients restent très attachés au contact humain et aux modes de communication traditionnels, fax et téléphone. Autre innovation, le recours à des circuits de distribution, comme un accord avec Leroy Merlin qui permet de toucher plus largement les artisans, avec des matériels plus accessibles. La location s’ouvre d’ailleurs à de nouvelles typologies d’équipements comme les caméras thermiques (en l’occurrence Flir) pour le diagnostic industriel ou du bâtiment. Mais la crise ne devrait pas affecter le mouvement dont bénéficie la location depuis plusieurs années. « La location est en voie de se banaliser. Ce n’est déjà plus un acte exceptionnel de gestion, mais devient une pratique habituelle. » Tout comme le vélo en libre-service dont on paie l’usage s’oppose au vélo qu’on achète. Aussi Loxam fera-t-il preuve d’un grand « pragmatisme de gestion ». Les solutions passeront par un « reformatage » de l’entreprise, l’adaptation serrée de l’offre à la demande clients, l’ajustement des prix. Le prix dit de référence devient désormais une sorte de prix plafond ouvert à négociations en fonction d’un volume d’affaires. Enfin, les ressources informatiques seront mises à contribution pour faciliter ce nouveau mode de management.
