I N T E R S T I C E
After analyzing the history and evolution of the territory, as well
as other important aspects regarding the neighborhood of Sant
Andreu, we propose a general organization plan of the meeting
point between the fabric of the Eixampla and the old fabric of the
neighborhood of Sant Andreu.
This project aims to solve the encounter between two tissues
of the city of barcelona that converge at a single point.
On the one hand we find the grid of “El Plà Cerdà”, a plan of
reform and expansion of the city of Barcelona in 1860 that
followed the criteria of the hypodamic plan; and on the other
hand the old traces of the historical area of Sant Andreu, one
of Barcelona’s districts.
The Eixampla is trying to adapt and transform part of the
pre-existing tracing, but there are conflicting points where
there is no clear organization of the territory.
