In this map from 1890 we can see the importance of rivers and
irrigation on the layout and urban fabric. We also see the superposition
of the Cerdà plan that will try to incorporate the southern
part of this population center located on the outskirts of Barcelona.
Currently, with the Cerdà plan already consolidated, this older
tissue has survived and we can differentiate it from the Eixampla
plot. However, the northern area is trying to dialogue with this
new urban plan.
