In what context is the civil helicopter market evolving today
and what challenges does it face?
There are several things to consider: the market itself
and the consequences of new European Aviation Safety
Agency (EASA) and other national civil aviation authorities
regulations. Three different markets are clearly emerging
today:
- Assistance to victims and disaster response services (EMS,
Firefighting, SAR).
- Aerial work (load lifting, wind energy, sports or
cinematographic shooting).
- « Short leg » passenger transport (offshore, city-airport
shuttles, glaciers drop-off).
Within the EASA environment, most of these missions can
still be done with single-engine aircraft, but they are all
carried out by twin-engine machines. And that is the problem.

Dans quel contexte évolue le marché civil de l’hélicoptère
aujourd’hui et à quels défis doit-il faire face ?
En fait, plusieurs éléments sont à prendre en considération :
le marché lui-même et le comportement de l’Agence
européenne de sécurité aérienne - AESA - et des autorités
nationales d’aviation civile. Il y a très clairement trois
marchés qui se dégagent aujourd’hui :
- Les services de secours à victime et d’intervention en
situation de catastrophe (EMS, Firefighting, SAR).
- Le travail aérien (levage de charge, énergie éolienne, prise
de vue sportive ou cinématographique).
- Le transport de passagers en « boucle courte » (offshore,
navettes aéroports-centre-ville, dépose en montagne).
Ces marchés, qui a quelques rares exceptions, sont encore
possibles (en environnement AESA) en monomoteur, sont
tous réalisés par des machines bimoteurs.
