ERICKSON IS PREPARING
NEW VERSION OF THE S-64
The S-64, optimized for carrying heavy loads
under a sling, was born during the Vietnam War.
Half a century later, Erickson, who holds the type
certificate, continues to maintain the fleet still in
service and is preparing to launch a new version of
this helicopter, called S-64F + Air Crane and intended
for lifting missions or fire fighting. Erickson plans to
manufacture around 100 S-64F+, which will include
a new airframe, composite blades, new engines and
modernized avionics. Out of the forty S-64Fs still in
use around the world, half belong to Erickson.
Helicopter Industry will detail this project in its next
issue.
