MD Helicopters is still struggling in the civilian market. Under
the authority of Lynn Tilton, Chairman and CEO, who swears
by vertical integration and the internal takeover of formerly
subcontracted productions, MD Helicopters is preparing to
modernize and put back on the market its twin-engine MD 902
Notar. The modernization will involve the integration of the
Universal Avionics InSight and the Universal SkyLens headup
display. The aircraft will be IFR single pilot compatible.
«This contract is signed and the project is on track,» said Lynn
Tilton, during Heli Expo. «We plan to bring this helicopter to the
market by the end of 2021.» As for the MD6XX project, unveiled
in 2017, it is no longer on the agenda. This helicopter looked
like an MD600N, the Notar system of which would have
been replaced by a four-blade classic anti-torque rotor. The
MD6XX is also said to have received a composite tail boom
and new generation blades. But focused on the evolution of
the current range, MD Helicopters does not seem to have the
financial or human resources to move this project forward.

toujours sur le marché civil. Sous la férule de Lynn Tilton,
qui ne jure que par l’intégration verticale et la reprise en
interne des productions autrefois sous-traitées, MD se
prépare à replacer sur le marché son bimoteur MD 902 Notar
modernisé avec une avionique Universal Avionics InSight,
qui sera compatible IFR monopilote et doté de l’affichage
tête haute Universal SkyLens. « Ce contrat est signé et le
projet est en bonne voie », a déclaré Lynn Tilton, pendant Heli
Expo. «Nous espérons que cet appareil doté de sa nouvelle
avionique sera disponible sur le marché d’ici la fin de 2021.»
Quant au projet de MD6XX, dont une maquette avait été
dévoilée en 2017, il n’en est aujourd’hui plus trop question.
L’appareil ressemblait à un MD600N dont le système Notar
aurait été remplacé par un rotor anti-couple classique à
quatre pales. Le MD6XX aurait également reçu une poutre
de queue en composite et des pales de nouvelle génération.
Mais focalisée sur les évolutions appareils de la gamme
actuelle, MD Helicopters n’a semble-t-il pas les ressources
financières ou humaines pour faire avancer ce projet.
