MAVERICK HELICOPTERS ANNOUNCED CRFS
RETROFIT FOR ITS ENTIRE EC130 B4 FLEET
Maverick Helicopters and Airbus Helicopters have announced they will partner to
retrofit the tourism operator’s entire fleet of 34 EC130 B4 helicopters with the Airbus
Helicopters Crash Resistant Fuel System (CRFS), which has just received EASA
certification with FAA to follow shortly. Maverick Helicopters, one of the largest
aviation-based tourism companies in the world, carries more than 250,000 passengers
annually in Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Hawaii. It operates an exclusively Airbus
fleet of nearly 50 helicopters, comprised of the H130 which has come standard with a
CRFS since its entry into service in 2012 and of its earlier variant the EC130 B4.
Airbus indicates that any Airbus H125 or H130 family helicopter in service today that
does not have a CRFS can be equipped with one through either an Airbus Helicopters or third-party approved retrofit solution, based
on the model. To encourage the implementation of this important safety feature industrywide, Airbus Helicopters has been offering its
CRFS retrofit kits at the below-cost price of € 35 000 or US$44,000 worldwide for the past year and has been providing incentives to its
customers who choose to retrofit their fleet with a third-party solution.

Maverick Helicopters et Airbus Helicopters ont annoncé leur partenariat pour équiper l’ensemble de la flotte de 34 hélicoptères EC130
B4 de l’opérateur avec le système de carburant résistant aux chocs (CRFS) d’Airbus Helicopters. Le système qui vient de recevoir la
certification EASA devrait obtenir une certification avec la FAA dans les mois à venir. Maverick Helicopters, l’une des plus grandes
sociétés de tourisme aérien au monde, transporte plus de 250 000 passagers par an à Las Vegas, au Grand Canyon et à Hawaï.
L’opérateur exploite une flotte exclusive d’Airbus de près de 50 hélicoptères, composée du H130 qui est équipé d’un CRFS depuis son
entrée en service en 2012 et de sa variante précédente, l’EC130 B4. Dans son communiqué, l’helicoptériste indique par ailleurs que tout
appareil de la famille Airbus H125 ou H130 en service aujourd’hui qui n’est pas équipé d’un CRFS peut l’être par le biais d’une solution de
modernisation approuvée par Airbus Helicopters ou par un tiers, selon le modèle. Afin d’encourager la mise en œuvre de cet important
dispositif de sécurité dans l’ensemble du secteur, Airbus Helicopters propose depuis un an ses kits de modernisation CRFS à un prix
inférieur au coût de 35 000 € ou 44 000 $ US dans le monde entier.
FLIGHTSAFETY EXPANDS ITS HELICOPTER TRAINING PROGRAMS
FlightSafety International announces the expansion of its helicopter training programs and services with new Level D qualified simulators
for the Airbus Helicopters EC145 and Leonardo AW139. The Airbus Helicopters EC145 simulator is scheduled to enter service in March
2020 at the FlightSafety Learning Center in Denver, Colorado. While it will be used primarily to support Air Methods, FlightSafety will
also offer training using this new advanced technology device to other operators of the aircraft. The simulator that is being built for the
Leonardo AW139 is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. It will enter service at FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Lafayette,
Louisiana early in 2021 following Level D qualification.

FlightSafety International annonce l’extension de ses programmes et services de formation sur hélicoptère avec de nouveaux simulateurs
qualifiés de niveau D pour les hélicoptères Airbus EC145 et Leonardo AW139. Le simulateur EC145 d’Airbus Helicopters devrait entrer en
service en mars 2020 au FlightSafety Learning Center de Denver, au Colorado. Bien qu’il soit principalement utilisé pour l’entraînement
au travail aérien, FlightSafety proposera également une formation utilisant ce nouveau dispositif aux autres exploitants de l’appareil.
Le simulateur en cours de construction pour le Leonardo AW139 devrait être achevé d’ici la fin de l’année 2020. Il entrera en service
au centre d’apprentissage de FlightSafety à Lafayette, en Louisiane, au début de 2021, après avoir obtenu la qualification de niveau D.
