BELL BOEING CMV-22B OSPREY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES FIRST FLIGHT
The first CMV-22B Osprey, built by Bell Textron Inc. and Boeing, completed first flight operations at Bell’s Amarillo Assembly Center. The
CMV-22B is the latest variant of the tiltrotor fleet, joining the MV-22 and CV-22 used by the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force. The U.S.
Navy will use the CMV-22B to replace the C-2A Greyhound for transporting personnel, mail, supplies and high-priority cargo from shore
bases to aircraft carriers at sea. Bell Boeing designed the Navy variant specifically for carrier fleet operations by providing increased
fuel capacity for the extended range requirement. Bell Boeing will deliver the first CMV-22B to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (HX) 21
in early 2020 for developmental test.

Le premier CMV-22B Osprey, développé en coopération entre Boeing et Bell Textron, a effectué son premier vol depuis le centre
d’assemblage d’Amarillo de Bell. Le CMV-22B est la dernière variante des « tiltrotors », MV-22 et CV-22 mis en service par l’US Marines
et l’US Air Force. Cette nouvelle version est développée pour la marine américaine qui utilisera le CMV-22B afin de remplacer le C-2A
Greyhound utilisé notamment pour le transport du personnel, du courrier et des cargaisons prioritaires des bases à terre vers les porteavions
en mer. Bell et Boeing ont conçus la variante de la Navy avec une capacité de carburant accrue afin d’étendre l’autonomie actuel
de l’appareil. Le consortium Bell/Boeing livrera le premier CMV-22B à l’escadron d’essais et d’évaluation aériens (HX) 21 au début de
l’année 2020 pour les tests de développement.
