Engineered for safer sputum collection, transport and handling. The<br />
specimen is collected directly into a shatter-resistent conical Falcon tube,<br />
then a protective fl ap seals off the collection end. The unique hinged design<br />
allows for a screw cap to be tightened over the specimen tube without the<br />
clinician touching the cap or the collection end of the tube.<br />

plastic ampule with NALC) and powdered phosphate buffer. After activation<br />
of the NALC ampule, the NALC-NaOH mixture is stable for 24 hours. This kit<br />
should be stored at room temperature.<br />

microscope slides imprinted with two circles. One circle is an acid-fast<br />
positive control with Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis plus<br />
inactivated Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Ra. The other circle is a negative<br />
control with an unstained mixture of non-acid-fast cocci (Staphylococcus<br />
aureus) and bacilli (Bacillus subtilis). AFB Slides, individually wrapped,<br />
sufficient for 50 tests.<br />
