A ticket to run the business behind the show
Glion’s Event, Sport and Entertainment Management degrees open
the doors to every area of these complex and dynamic industries. The
programs are offered in Switzerland and London, two prime locations
that host many international events and sports events, as world hubs
of business and tourism. Glion offers a wide range of ESE programs
at undergraduate and postgraduate level. And unlike other schools,
only Glion offers event, sport, and entertainment courses in the same
program. Our programs combine theoretical and practical education.
Our students balance classroom learning with two internships in
international companies worldwide and hands-on projects that give
them invaluable real-world experience operating and managing events
of all kinds on campus and outside.
Why study Event, Sport and Entertainment Management (ESE)?
The ESE field is remarkably diverse and dynamic. By 2020 it is estimated
that 1 in every 11 jobs will be in the event management sector, or MICE
(Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events). Event management
jobs are international and diverse, perfect for people who like travel,
fast-paced projects and cultural diversity. International events and
sports federations offer project work in venue planning, guest services,
logistics, and promotion, while hospitality venues such as hotels often
hire full-time event managers to organize private and corporate events.
Additionally, the demand for wedding planners, luxury events and PR
events grows.
Best of Event Management Programs
Industry exposure is an essential part of an event management program.
At Glion, students take a hands-on learning module called the Project
Factory where they work on real industry events, sports competitions,
conferences and other events attended by the public. Then, they have
to take their practical knowledge to the next level and apply business
strategy.
Alumna Success Story
BBA student in Event, Sport and
Entertainment Management Lulla Hokholt
did one of her two internships in a Shanghai
company. After the three months as an intern
she was employed as a project manager - and
met soccer star David Beckham. “Several
times, I was project manager for a dinner
where he [David Beckham] was a guest of
honor,” she explained. After graduation, Lulla worked at a Chinese event
company for two years before starting her own company. At the age
of 26, she now runs her very own events company based in Shanghai.
“Planning and organization comes naturally to me. In the event industy
you have the opportunity to get a little more creative with it,” she said.
