are the result of the use of warm and cold<br />

colours in different registers, crowned by<br />

the maximum brightness of the yellow full<br />

of lyricism and freshness. As a chromatic<br />

dominant, it gives monumentality to his<br />

compositions, architects them according<br />

to the rules imposed by the painter,<br />

creating vibrant spaces, full of light and<br />

joy, with maximum expressiveness. The<br />

yellow in Augustin Costinescu’s canvases<br />

belongs to the divine component of his<br />

being, to the rebound induced by the<br />

harmonies of the world, which<br />

predisposes to communication through<br />

the tensions of expression, through energy<br />

exchanges inner and outer nature of the<br />

artist.<br />

Readable in the various effects and<br />

feelings impressed to the twodimensional<br />

support, from serenity and<br />

sublimity, to the state of well-being and<br />

the dynamics of life, these conscious and<br />

subconscious elements are traced in<br />

intense yellow touches, rhythmically<br />

joined by short or long routes or paths<br />

elaborated in wide splashes of colour,<br />

giving the impression of falling<br />

meteorites or dazzling optical effects,<br />

tensioning the bright surface of pure,<br />

intense, violent, strident, reduced in<br />

intensity, diluted yellow... It is<br />

impressive the artist’s ability to model<br />

the yellow according to his feelings. The<br />

way it is involved in his creation, this<br />

warm, compacted or transparent nuance,<br />

giving the viewer the impression of a<br />

perpetual regeneration of the world,<br />

shows us how the painter maintains the<br />

analogies with what is eternal, with the<br />

strength and masculinity of the universe,<br />

with a beneficial part of our diurnal side,<br />

potentiating its tones in the vicinity of<br />

white, ocher and orange, or in red, blue<br />

and green neighbouring sounds.<br />

Augustin Costinescu’s palette is<br />

much more lighter now than in the<br />

canvasses of past period of his creation<br />

when, under the influence of a more<br />

pronounced synthesis and under the<br />

fascinating dome of the coloured grays,<br />

he created works of aesthetic value,<br />

comparable to the recent ones,<br />

announcing from one creative period to<br />

another, not the change of vision, but the<br />

evolution that was going to shape and<br />

define his originality. From the generous<br />

colour schemes, the artist became closer<br />

to the analytical surfaces in figurative<br />

contours, from a weighted calm gray<br />

tone, followed the way of the fauve<br />

direction, without exaggerating,<br />

remaining in the protective core of the<br />

idea that painting must be beautiful, to<br />

represent the artist’s sensitive side, the<br />

invisible dimension of his interior, and<br />

his truth.<br />
