Yellow, red and blue give rise to erudite combinations of chromatic
spiritual vibrations sometimes dotted with violet, white or black
shades, which are caught in a genuine dance of feelings, always
fresh, always amazing, always different
In the exhibition, set aside, is looking at us a brilliant "self-portrait"
in warm golden shades, different from the other chromatic games.
Solar Yellow is no longer in the foreground but is hidden in the
combinations of ocher, yellow and black and green with Venetian
red. It is simply titled "Myself"; the painter contemplating the fresco
of life. It is the Master himself who is watching us decisively,
critically, but always with tolerance and patience, with his open and
generous soul.

Developed as a vision on the lines of
colourful Romanian style of painting, but
stylistically involved in the expressionism
and fauvism of the French landscape,
Augustin Costinescu assumes through
his work a type of originality that draws
attention by sensitivity, emotion,
genuine feeling in front of light, detected
as the main source the joy of the artist to
paint, alongside the vivid, tensional
colour, embedded in a language where
the plastic subject becomes the favourite.
Through the brightness of his canvasses,
through the astonishing yellow, which
dominates his paintings in mature
compositions, Augustin Costinescu
redefines an attitude of admiration in
front of his personal daily life, marked by
the consecrated subjects of art history:
portrait, static nature, landscape,
composition, perspective, which brings
him closer to the areas of classicism.
It is obvious that the artist looked
closely at the modern European painting,
observing in the great museums of the
world the masters’ creation before him,
carefully studying their work, reading
extensively and understanding the
meaning of the creator in search of
elements of identity necessary for the
definition of the work. Although he is a
